Thanks! I don't own any Stiller actions, so I can't say how they compare. The XM action is specifically designed for the WSM length cartridges, and the Deviant Ultralight has a built in, split 20 MOA base. I thought that was a pretty slick design, so I spoke to them about it when I ordered the action. Mike at Defiance was great to deal with and walked me through all of the numerous options.

Nice!!!

While I didn't choose the individual pieces for this build, when I saw the completed rifle come up for sale here in December, I couldn't resist. Joe chose well.

Here's my "budget" build for my first foray into competition this year.

JwYWMvN.jpg

Savage 12 action
Shilen 26" 6.5x47 Lapua (varmint profile)
PTG bolt head
Bobby Hart LRT stock
Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST EBR-1
Warne rings / base
Sinclair Gen3

So far it's early in load development but I'm getting .6 MOA 5 shot groups with 123 AMAX and AA4064 @ 2800fps.

I know that it's a little out of place to use a bipod for what is effectively an F-Open rifle but this started as a .308 training rifle to save wear on my .243. Until I can get into a decent front rest, it'll have to do.

Do they fit a standard inlet?

No, it's in between a short and long action. Both McMillan and Manners can inlet for it though. If you go with the standard short or long action length, it fits a regular 700 stock.

Spear of Destiny .284

Speedy SOP in Dark Walnut with all options
Straight 284 - .320 neck with .215 free bore
Bat M, Right, Right, Left eject
1-Kreiger 1:8:5
1-Kreiger 1:8
1-Brux 1:8:5
Bix-n-Andy Trigger
Nightforce Comp on NF rings

Stevens Accuracy did the metal work and Speedy/Tommy Shurley did the stock work. Breaking barrel's in now, and it's showing a lot of promise. Still trying to make up my mind whether to hit it with another coat of tung oil and leave satin, or put a clear over it. I was torn on whether to install the RAD system, but after shooting it, I know that I made that right decision now. It was well worth the extra money.

Jim...might want to check your butt plate seemingly to be resting/dragging on your rear bag! Might be where all your elevation shots are coming from?! I'd say: Turn bag around?? Or, cut toe to match rest of butt?

Actually, based on their website and personal experience, it's in between the medium action (700 Short) and the long action (700 Long). That accounts for the XM nomenclature. (extended medium) These actions will accommodate cartridges up 3.2" OAL.

"Actions available in Short, Medium, XM, Long, and XL lengths to accommodate all popular factory chamberings and extended length handloads."

From the Defiance price guide:

MEDIUM ACTION (Model 700™ SA Length) – $1090 MSRP or $1190 (with scope rail) MSRP
416R SS, 1.350 OD, .700 Bolt, 4340 CM, .750 Bolt Add $100

XM ACTION – $1090 MSRP or $1190 (with scope rail) MSRP
416R SS, 1.350 OD, .700 Bolt, 4340 CM

LONG ACTION (Model 700™ LA Length) – $1140 MSRP or $1240 (with scope rail) MSRP
416R SS, 1.350 OD, .700 Bolt, 4340 CM, .750 Bolt Add $100

XL ACTION – $1240 MSRP or $1340 (with scope rail) MSRP
.750 Bolt Only, 416R, SS, 1.350 OD, 4340 CM

Regards.

So you are saying it's length is between a standard 700 short and standard 700 long action? o_O
