Shoulder Bump does it impact ACCURACY?

I use die shims under my costom sizeing die (I know thats the old way) After a few firings, I find that the die bumps back less and less. I set up a measuerd bump of .004 after the 2nd fireform and is at .002 at match time. When it gets hard to close the bolt, I trash that lot of brass instead of taking a few thous of shims out. I dont like to fight the bolt at the bench

Absolutely , says the retired T& D guy . Drives people around me nuts . Just like I go straight up a wall when I hear the phrase ,"That's good enough" .

When my friends and I are at the range, someone will invariably ask me a question or want me to look at something. “Look out, Jackie’s reaching in the range box for his mic’s” is the clue I’m about to get serious.

My shoulder bump became super consistent once I went back to annealing after every firing. The only pressure I want to feel when I close the bolt is that which is created when the lands engrave the bullet.

As a bonus, bullet seating pressure did the same. The second bonus, my brass wants to last forever. Just my two cents though.

To answer the original question, it undoubtedly affects accuracy and I mean both the amount as well as the consistency of the shoulder bump.
