Should I look past the 6mm-250AI?

Kinda new here. I have posted once or so in the past but have been gone awhile.

I have a Savage 22-250FVSS that is in need of a new tube. For some reason the 6-250AI has always appealed to me. Not sure why, maybe its the looks of the round. Anyhow, will be shooting out to 600yds, maybe more. Looking to shoot bullets in the 75gr-107gr range. Thanks

Do you own a 6BR? If not, it is time to try one. Perfect round for the distance/bullets you are describing. Easy to get brass, dies, and to reload. Just my 2 cents, Tim

Been running a 6X22-250 for the last several years, out to 1000yds. I'm building another for some reason. The AI should be even better. I say go for it.

I think that you will find that there is only 1gr. of water difference between the 6-250 Imp. & the 6xc. I used to shoot a 6-250 Imp. & for the last 5 years have been shooting the 6xc & haven't looked back.

I have a buddy that I shoot against that did the same thing. He's happy as all get out. No fire forming, had it chambered with a no turn neck, is happy with the Norma 6xc brass and the small groups without all the other hassle. WD

I am planning on doing the 6mm-250 AI. You want have
to trim cases with that 40 degree shoulder. I should push
the 115's faster than the 6-XC.

I too have a 6mm-250AI. Built on a Rem 700 action with a Hart heavy barrel twisted for 70 to 80 grain bullets.

Although Hodgdon does have some load data (and Varget shows great promise), I'm trying to find some starting data for Vihta Vuori powders. I have N133, N135, N140, N150, and even some N160.

I have Berger 80 gr Varmint, Hornady 75 VMax, and Nosler 70 and 80 gr Bal Tip bullets.

Probably will settle on the Berger 80 gr Varmint bullet - which has shown potential with Varget. (Hornady 75 gr VMax also looks good; haven't tried the Noslers yet.)

Anyone have load data for Vihta Vuori powders and 70 to 80 gr bullets in the 6mm-250 or 6mm-250 Ack Imp??

Thanks!

Ill throw one more into the mix....6-6.5x47L

It's in the same catagoty, power wise...has Lapua brass, just neck down and shoot. I always size new brass to iron out the necks anyway, so there is no extra steps involved.
