6mm-250AI

I've got a 6mm-250AI hunting rifle that I haven't taken the time to sort out. R700, 22" 1-8", no turn neck, lilja #2 contour, sitting in a mcmillan classic.

I'm mostly interested in 85 TSX and 105 class bullets. I have a fair selection of powder on hand. I'm thinking H4350, or N150 for the heavies, and Varget/R15/MR2000 for the 85's but I'd love to hear what's worked for others.

Anybody care to share?

6mm-250al!!?? That's a cartridge? I was in the gun room the other night wondering if that could be done! Lolo lol

I have load for the 6 x 45, 6 x 47, 243, 6 x 284 and 6 - 300 WSM, but not the 6 - 250 ai. I know that they say an 8 twist will do a 105 gn. bullet I have not had good luck with that combo so far. The 85`s you should have great luck with and definitely try the 105`s as the BC on them is great. Try different powder and different primers as well until you find a load that you are happy with.

Several years ago I built a 6mm-250AI for my fiance, ran either 107 Sierra's or 108 Berger's with 40.0 gr of either Re-17 or H-4350, Russian SRM primers, left the muzzle over 3100 fps and is deadly accurate.
She won a couple different state F-Open Championships before she quit shooting.

I was wondering if R17 might be a good choice for hunting, especially with the shorter barrel.

My 6-250AI loves H4350 with 87 grain Vmaxes. But it has a 1 in 11 twist 27.5" barrel. Not sure if that combo would work in a shorter tube.
