The 30-06 has always been a big game killer. In most cases, it is a one shot, one kill caliber.338 win mag, 270 win and 30-06 should be added

Don’t believe all you read. Unless it’s about the Creedmore.
Factory rifles are going to have a long free bore if you decide to reload later it'll be a chore keeping it in tune. An 8 pound rifle is light for a long range shooter. If you're going to shoot elk 300PRC is better than 6.5PRC but more recoil will challenge your shooting skills in that 8 pound rifle. Hart can build you a great rifle on a Remington action but when you're done it's still just a Remington. Like someone said earlier. Spend more money on the scope if you want to make that long shot! For now just factory. I can’t seem to find the time to get going on reloading.
If it doesn't then a hunter need only look in the mirror to find the problem. 30-06 will take elk at 600 with a good tough bullet and a capable shooter. 6.5x55 has killed large moose for a long time in Europe and the 6.5 PRC has more horsepower still. Just got to find the right ammo for the job, and your rifle has to shoot it well. Cross fingers and hope you get lucky but be prepared for it to shoot 1.5MOA.The 30-06 has always been a big game killer. In most cases, it is a one shot, one kill caliber.
