Should I give up and take up golf?

I work at my neighborhood golf course part-time in season to get extra $$ for shooting. If I play a round of golf (free for me), the whole time I'm going around the course I'm thinking..."boy, this right here would be a super spot for a 500 yard range" or "hey, we could put in a 300 yard range right here and the benches would be perfect right here!" or "right up there is where I'm putting my treestand, by that deer trail" HaHa! So you see, there is an up-side to golf for shooters! Also, I know golfers who will regularly lie about their score. Bullet holes don't lie !! What your target says is what you get.

Soooo...I tell a customer I'm shipping his purchace on a specific date and I can't even find his order ??? What the heck kind of business decision was that ??? Hmmm..gotta wonder. Just saying !!

I have had minor issues with PTG but could tell that when they get swamped with work there would be issues galore. Nothing wrong with Clymer or Manson - they do good work as well.

You should take up golf. You can be fairly certain that the government isn't going to try and take away your golf clubs!!!!!

Although, they may try and make the scratch golfers play off handed so that we all may be more equal...The hacks will feel good about thier game. Everyone can shoot the same score....no more class warfare!!!...oops, I mean no more handicaps....sorry.

I just got back from my golf game and I am grinding reamers again. All kidding aside we have just installed a new phone and computer system in our new offices. I have hired three new emploees to help . Becky will be back Monday . She lost here brother three weeks ago and she is a wreck so cut here a little slack. Kathleen and kory have been getting 300 emails a day . But I am here on 5 phone lines each day and I grind reamers at night . If you need me to hunt down a order or help you call 541-826-5808 or 541-826-9244. The emails are backed up due to the new phone and computer system we just finished and the death of Beckys brother. I hope you all will call and let her know you care, her brother died back east and she was unable to be there, sad time for her. As far as looking for your reamers we are shipping them out each day at the tune of 50 per day and we will be back to three weeks now that we have our offices moved to the back of our new building . Kathleen and Kory should be geting back to you all by 3-2-11. Remember Pacific reamers still dominate the shooting sport and we will only get better as long as I am alive . If you have a gripe or a order Im your man Thanks Dave KIff

alf and others, call me at the shop and we can get the order straight . With 5 new lines we should be able to get a call thru. Now as far as training the new girls that may take a few days.

Rifler, Thats great news . I think your set up will only get better. How many rounds are thru the 6.5 barrel at this time?

Dave,
I got the reamer you made me for my 6brx and it looks great, thank you. I will start reaming as soon as the go gauge gets here and am sure they will be shooters ;) I was unaware of Becky's trouble and am very sad to hear of her loss I think I am going to order a 6mm AI reamer from you and after I talk to you about it I will have you transfer me to her so I can give her my condolences, I dont know her but I have siblings myself and can't imagine, my thoughts are with her. Thanks again for the great products you produce.
Sincerley Wayne.

I have yet to order the reamer for my 6mm AI build but, after reading this thread I will go with PT & G! I'm impressed that Dave got on here to defend his business and give explanation for the troubles they have been experiencing as of late.

Wayne: Looks like your gonna get to build your 6mm AI before I get to build mine you rascal ;)! Hope its a shooter!

Mike

Dave Kiff (PT&G) is the only way to go!!!

Mike,
I think I already told you I have one in a 1:14 but I want one in a 1:8 for long range work and I need to talk to Dave before I make my final decision, I also may make a order @ the same time for a 280 ackley IMP with the 168 or 180 vlds in mind. Didn't you have to put you 6AI on hold for another gun project and disipline of shooting your doing right now?, and Yes PT&G will get my business, I had a little communication problem with them but there were no harsh words spoken, Heck Kathleen even caught the foul up and called me to fix the problem, as I stated in my first post everyone I have talked to @ PT&G have been very curtious and professional and have treated me great.

You waited 3 weeks for Kiff to deliver and are disappointed? Haha, you need an education. First, Kiff is awesome, and if he came anywhere close to 3 weeks that would be great, but the reality is more like 3 months. The shooting industry consists of many small shops and delivery times can great crazy long. But, it is filled with good people and if you exercise a little bit of patience, you will be satisfied in the end. Take the "New York" attitude and file it away when it comes to shooting, because you will only get frustrated when expecting quick delivery times.

Funny thing about golf, I thought shooting would be a time saver... I mean what could take more time than a round of golf on a Sunday? Shooting a highpower match, that's what.....lol. That said, I am still shooting and it is a lot of fun: just different than golf. Meanwhile, my boys are playing a lot of golf during the week and we are all shooting on the weekend: both are fun!

dave ,i have a 100rounds down the tube with the new reamer both barrel and chamber are working fine .alot of people are happy shooting your reamers and happy with the service . i know you will do right by the guy who started this post and i hope he sticks with shooting . T.R.

Mike , I go to the shop every day and do the best I can . My staff does the same . We get as much done as we can each day and we try to do better the next. I think the fellow will stick with shooting and not get any crappy golf clubs from wal mart , hell there made in China any way. Well Im off to the shop. The phone will leave me alone today and I can get some work done. Thans Dave

Thanks Dave for taking the time respond here and defend your buisness! I will try to call you next just to get an idea of a delivery date.
My son started shooting last year and I wasn't really interesteted until I built him a .22LR for christmas and I enjoyed the build so much I tagged along with a friend who shoots 1000 yard stuff, this got me hooked and I decided to build a .308 for F T/R.
The reason I sound so frustrated in my posts is that I have been wanting to build this rifle since christmas and always seem to waiting for parts! Anyway I have decided to buy a savage .22LR to get me out shooting sooner and I will continue my .308 build when the parts arrive!

Wayne: The initial project got put on hold because I couldn't decide who I wanted to use for a smith and it was going to be put together on a S&W 1500 action, which alot of smiths don't work on because of metric threads. That and I'm layed off right now so my income isn't the greatest but, back to work in 2-3 weeks so I'm not too worried about that anymore. Gotta love working in the Agricultural business ;)! Now that I acquired this Remmy 700 LA, finding a smith to work on it should be gravy ;)!

Mike

Why Golf ? When a hole is 500yds away you need 4-5 shots to put it in ;) ;) ;), Shooting is 1 ;D ;D ;D .Plus it's easier to count your shots, no twisted up backs etc.

I needed a diagram of a reamer they made for someone else and they were super got it right to me and I have never bought anything from them. Super service to a so far non paying customer tells me all I need to know about PTG. If I ever need anything they make I will be spending my money with them. I really appreciated there super service for a reamer I bought second hand. Awesome experience for me. Plus he gets on here tells whats up and is going to handle it himself. Again awesome. I wish everyone I worked (Dillon, Montana) with was so stand up. Made in America keep it up. PG

I had excellent service from PT&G on 5 or 6 orders between July and Nov. When we all want our orders and we tell everyone about how good PT&G is we cause the delays, Just think about it. I remember someone complaining about barrel makers being slow "saying they should just hire more people" that is not the solution. It is a skill that is not just walking the streets. Tool grinding is the same way. I spent a year in a tool grinding room and I did OK but I know I'm not great at it. I hope PT&G is around for a long time.
