Krieger Barrels order up date

I have found out the due to long lead times and I want to shoot. If it is a barrel that is shot out (throat erosion) I take my old barrel and have it re-chambered. Down time is about 1 week from my local guy and much cheaper than a new barrel also re cuts the crown $100.00.

Now if it is really shot out then I will replace it. So far my only issues has been the throat issues.

May be something to think about if your just replacing a barrel.

Yep. For me, it's almost as much as full chamber job. At that price, I opt for the new barrel.

Last spring I ordered a new barrel for my PPC from Kriger. They gave be a shipping date at that time of Feb 21 2022. Getting close to time so I called to check on things and perhaps arrange payment as I had a couple of certificates I won last year to pu towards it. The gentleman I spoke found my order and said they would be about 8 weeks later than anticipated. Well, that seems to be the norm today, no big deal. Moral of the story, be aware and allow lots of lead time.

I ordered a Shilen barrel for a Ruger PR on August 23rd. I got a call yesterday asking if I would accept a ratchet rifled barrel. I said yes and it's in production now. I've read good and bad on them but figured now was as good a time as any to take a chance on it.

Ya when all of this started I was getting batches of barrels in 3 months, and ordering accordingly to keep a stock on hand for my customers. Seemed like over night it went to 8-12 months for everything, not just barrels. I was not too happy because its really hard to try and run a business like that. Now I have 50 barrels on order trying to spread them out enough to keep some on hand. Not what I want to do but you have to plan a year ahead these days.

Just ordered two barrels today and Mike said they are back to about 12 months out. They were getting caught up but had another run in November and then again in January. A guy has to plan way ahead.

I have an order in from May of last year. Originally heard Feb as a target date. Guess it'll be a bit longer.

Interestingly, I placed 3 orders with 3 different vendors (that barrel, an Autotrickler, and a reamer) and they all came up with a February estimate. Wallet is likely not going to be happy.

Edit: True to form, 20 minutes after posting this, I got a message from Krieger that my barrel is ready. Paid for, and awaiting shipping confirmation now.

So I got notice of completion on 2/3, paid the invoice immediately, and waited. Just got notice that a UPS tag was generated today (2/14.) So 11 days sitting in shipping (less the time it takes to move from the shop floor to the shipping room, I guess.)
