Shopping for a strong and lite rifle stock

Wanting to buy a strong and lite stock for a hunting rifle, any suggestions on were to start looking?

High Tech Specialties has been a staple in the Brownells catalog for some time. 20 oz. weight with fiberglass shell covering urethane fill.

Sorry to break the bad news Butch but I don't think that Brown Precision will be making stocks for while.

I got a call from Mark Brown on Tuesday morning that their business burned to the ground. I had a Shilen DGA 7mm Rem Mag there for some work when the place burned down. He said that the insurance adjusters were there and it would be a couple weeks before he know how this was going to shake out. Mark assured me that he would make it right. They had produced the original DGA fiberglass stocks so I had a DGA barreled action that I sent to him back in the early 90's to have a stock made.

I can't begin to imagine what a kick in the gut it is to have your 50 year old business totaled in the blink of an eye. At least he still has his intellectual property and a customer base to rebuild on. I have to get copies of my documentation over to him because it went up in flames. I had called last week and left a phone message inquiring about the status which is why he knew whose rifle it was.

I think you quoted the wrong post- incase you were trying to get butch’s attention. Sorry to hear about mark’s place. Hes a great guy.

I have a McMillan hunters edge and while I think it is a fine stock, I wouldn't call it exceptionally strong or rigid. It weighs the same as my SPS stock on my 17 fireball (25 oz)

Give MPA chassis stocks a look. I shot Jades .308 that he shot in Nationals. The MPA stock is solid. No ping, nod ding. Light too....

Sorry to here this, hopefulley they can get back on there feet and going . I only live about 2.5 hours from them and have been in the shop a few times. In fact headed by there on Sunday

I had a Brown Precision on a 280 rem. Dragged it all over the mountain west for 20 years. Never had a single problem, great light weight stock.

I now have 5 Manners Elite Hunter stocks, they're light and very stiff. I'm very happy with them.

+1 for AG Composites. Nothing stronger and nothing lighter with that level of rigidity.

Best customer service in the business too. It's like the "Vortex" warranty of the gun stock world. Any issues, even normal wear and tear, and they'll fix you up no questions asked. I wore a small spot of paint off the side of my AG CAT700 sporter from hiking while hunting over a 3 year time period. Called up Dave Tandy and he told me to send it in. Mailed it off expecting to be billed and they repainted the whole thing completely free of charge, didn't even charge me return shipping!

They'll even let you buy a stock primered. When you're done doing all your bedding and any other modifications to the stock, then ship it back to them and they will apply the finish paint. No extra charge for doing business that way and excellent turn around time.
