Shooting stool

Looking for something I can fold maybe, carry in the car and set up at the local range. Sinclair has a nice one, but not sure if it comes apart for transport. Some of the guys use the Drummers Throne seats, which are nice too. Any preferences? Anyone?

The Roc-N-Soc is the most comfortable and packs up easy, they even offer a storage/travel bag.

For $110 that Sinclair better be good.

I have a Rockville drummer stool I got off Ebay for $37 shipped. It's sturdy and comes apart easily to carry.

For whatever it's worth, Larry D. Scott, a member on this blog, sells a nice Shooting Stool that DOES NOT fold up and is solid when you sit on it. It too is height adjustable and sells for right around $110 (at least that's what I paid some 5 years ago) The seat has a comfortable ROUND leather cushion and the unit has a very sturdy base with 5 "feet" so even the BIG boys are well supported, better than a three leg/feet base distribution of weight. I usually load all my equipment, except for the rifles, in the back bed of an Avalanche and the stool doesn't move around. Might want to take a look at Larry's Shooting Stool before buying.

Thanks Alex. Although my stool will separate, I see no reason to ever do so.
I have hauled the same one for many yrs, fully assembled. Any item that
disassembles or is adjustable cannot be as sturdy and as long lived as a solid
object. Try a "GREAT SCOTT" shooting stool, you wont be disappointed.

pawn shops buy a lot of musical equipment, and stools come in often, they usually sell for $20 or so.

Drummer's Throne here.
Go to Amazon, type it in and look at the most popular. It is about $60 shipped and looks remarkably similar to some of the more popular shooting stools at twice the price. It is very sturdy and have had no problems where the stool meets my fat rear. It is NOT pneumatic and height is held by a metal dowel (of sorts) that can be adjusted in about 1" increments.

geez, I thought this was going to be another of those Beware the Gummi Bear posts....

I built my own folding stool - I copied one of my mentor's stools that was popular in the '70's. Bruno's offers a close copy of that stool=oak frame with padded seat.Years ago they placed the front rest in the folded stool for transport which made for a compact set up.

This is the one that I use and sell. Haven't seen a better one yet. Sorry for the poor pic. $125 shipped. It adjusts by raising the seat about 3/4 of the way and simply sliding the seat to the desired height. It locks solid when let back down. Comfortable, stable, lasts and lasts..and transports pretty well, as it folds flat. Plenty of adjustment to accommodate any benches I've seen anywhere.

I tried a multitude of stools. Some were pretty good but were hard to transport. Others were simply junk and fell apart...but they did transport ok. Maybe it had something to do with my big butt..but they fell apart.

Anyway, I'm glad I found these and am very happy with them. Buy once, cry once. This is a great stool!--Mike Ezell

Larry's stool is the best by far!! Softest, most adjustable and easily breaks down to three pieces..would not shoot off anything else.

Maybe I have the mind and mentality of a 5 year old, but I had a good chuckle when I read the title of the thread.
In my small mind I concocted a scenario where guys were shooting cow pies.

Then I read this..........."Larry's stool is the best by far!! Softest, most adjustable and easily breaks down to three pieces"

I need the weather to break so I can get out of the house. My own thoughts are too much to handle.

Ended up with a DW drummers throne with tractor seat and round seat as a side pc. I like it a lot. Thanks for all the suggestions.
