Shooting Sports Proper References and Grammar

Guy on another forum always tells other using hammer bullets to load until you hit pressure, then back off half a grain then "let her eat" .

Punctuation..... it's the difference between helping your uncle Jack, off a mule, and helping your your uncle jack off a mule.

If I can understand what a person is trying to say, that's good enough for me. If I misspell something or use incorrect grammar and it upsets you, that's on you and I could care less. Some folks are so sanctimonious they want to set the standards for everyone else.

If I say 6mm creedmore, and you do not understand what I am saying, you should go take an IQ test. Seems to me you are lacking something.

I totally understood what he was saying but others were upset because he didn't use the terminology properly. What phrase or misuse of words sends you over the edge. With me its when someone talks about having a barrel "spun up" Its like fingernails on a calk board going through a really poor amp system with a lot of feedback. tell us what is the worse.
You need to take a Zanex! Don't sweat the Small Stuff.

I wanna know if you had to look up “sanctimonious”! Hi Nick!;)

I would rather read what fellow shooters have to say rather than critiquing their grammar.
True, it is often tedious trying to decipher some of our fellow poster’s ideas, but that in no way should discount a valid point.
We all have our short comings.

Many of us know some skilled craftsmen who write as if they never got past the 8th grade.
That in no way deducts from their success in their chosen endeavor.
Jackie, I know that your school teacher wife proof reads all your posts.

NO NO NO NO I wanted to vent on gun terms , this isn't grade school. i don't care what Mrs Barker said about grammar. Lets talk about banana clips, bullet heads, gun plumbers, and stuff like that. On another forum one guy went ballistic when talking about bullets someone called them projectiles. Calling a Smith and Wesson model 29 a pistol, makes my skin crawl. ITS A REVOLVER. Some guy at the range a few years ago was talking about a Klash this and a Klash that, Finally I had to ask what he was talking about. He was blathering on about an AK47. Now one that I can get behind is the nickname for the M60, I like that one.

Syntax matters too.. Throw the horse over the fence, some hay.

This one you'll hear spoken (e.g. on the radio) rather than see written: If something unusual happens it may be called an "incident". Plural of incident is "incidents", e.g. "There were several incidents of violence." What you hear fairly often is "There were several incidences of violence." You'll hear me screaming at the radio.

Here's one that requires knowing Spanish to detect, but it is common in sportscasting which is dominated by guys who think they know Spanish: "This has become a fierce mano y mano contest." Wrong. That translates "hand and hand". What they think they're saying is "hand to hand" which in Spanish is mano a mano. You'll hear the wrong phrase ten times more often than the correct one.
