Shoot n see targets??

Have any of you guys tried making your own shoot n see type targets? Sticky backed plastic on a roll is readily available but has anyone got any ideas about what to paint it with to give shoot n see results? Some sort of wax based paint I guess.

if you can find some kind of wax based papper that has sticky on the back you can use Indian ink.kind of like how you put Indian ink on wax paper and draw on it with a pointed tool.or at least I thnk that will work.never tried it myself just always used the shoot-n-see ones.

If it's bullet holes ye be tryin' to spot at distance, then use the reverse side of a conventional target, i.e. the side without the aiming black. Hits in the black are almost impossible to spot past 300 yards, and even then it takes superb optics. Use a beige or white background target, then paste orange or other brightly-colored dots on it. I've been able to see hits on these to 500m (~550y), especially if the shots are grouped tightly. ;)

If you have to be shootin' at the black at distance, then you'll be needin' a spotter/puller in the pits, or a Shoot-N-C type target. As to makin' your own, I would think it would cost WAY more in time and hassle then it's worth. There's other, better ways to be savin' your money. 8)

I tried making my own "splatter" targets, and yes, it can be done, but I found it's easier to just buy the Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C's. They can get expensive when you get into the 12" and larger sizes, so I use the small round patch's to repair the targets, and they can be made to last a very long time.

Surprisingly, a lot of people put up a large diameter Shoot-N-C, fire one shot at it, and leave it. I'm always happy to help in keeping the range clean by taking the not wanted targets.

As BOhio said, using the reverse side of a large black bull target with a day-glo orange aiming point is also an excellent choice.
