Making shoot and see targets

I was looking to make my own shoot and see targets because the ones at the store are so expensive. Has anyone here made their own targets? I found this website http://www.visibilitytargets.com/ and the template idea looks interesting. Any other ideas on how to make them?

I've had good success by going to Menards and buying the 2 ft x 4 ft 1/4 inch foil backed siding underlayment.... very cheap. I then cover the foil backed side with clear adhesive contact paper available in many places including ebay. I then spray paint over the clear contact paper with the cheapest flat black spray paint I can find. When a bullet strikes the target board, it leaves about a dime sized silver circle that contrasts with the flat black and is visible at 600 yards. To recover, I just spray flat black over the shot hole and it's good to go again. Lasts for many rounds.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try the template from the website and use different backings to see what works best. I liked the cross hairs on the template.

Here's my 'shoot and see' target. AR500 steel, when the bullet smacks it, about 1/2" of paint is knocked off.

Thanks, Joe. That is an 8" 3/8" thick steel plate that was shot at 700 yards with my 12 BVSS and the 6XC barrel.
The U-bolts didn't hold up very well, so I went with straps like this.
