Thought someone would like to see this, i have ordered one to test for myself. I quit messing with my 6mm arc due to this problem with Hornady loaded ammo. I now have starline brass and will see how this works. Screenshot_20231027_112356_Facebook.jpg

Was it successful?
I don't know if it was successful for the OP but it was for me. I don't have an issue with 6mm ARC but did with 6.5 Grendel brass and this die cured it.

Quite a while back I bought 500 pieces of AA 6.5 Grendel brass that was once fired by Les Baer when they were developing their 264 LBC. This brass had issues fitting into a Proof SS 6.5 Grendel barrel (they fit fine in a Satern cut-rifled barrel) and I just pushed it towards the back of my cabinet for later. I bought one of these dies late last year and it worked perfectly as SOA said in their YouTube video.

I have used a Lee belt buster die before and knew they work but no one made anything for the .441" base cases until this. It does make the belt go away on a 6mm ARC if your barrel likes to add one. My suggestion for use is use a Lanolin based lube and watch for any brass build up in the die if you are sizing down a "fat bottom" case. OneShot was not sufficient in my experience for using the die as a push through die (see below).

Not that you should but you can also use it like the Lee belt buster or a Lee bullet sizing die. That is, use it as a push through sizing die using one of Lee's stems from either a 357, 41, or maybe 44 caliber bullet sizing dies. I use the 357 stem. I do get fine scratches at the bottom of the case and case rim but after running the brass through a vibratory cleaner, the scratches disappear. All of my 6mm ARC and 6.5 Grendel cases are more or less at factory new dimensions as compared to new Lapua 6.5 Grendel brass. Just using the SOA Belt Buster as designed works well but I have to try stuff and see if it works and it did.

Is this more or less not just another version of the small base die ? No photo of the SOA die opened up.

Murray - this link will answer both of your questions:

Not exactly. It is more akin to a Lee bullet sizing die in my opinion. It is a very short die and only has a sizing portion for about 1/2" at the bottom. The upper portion of the die is just open with nothing to get in the way.

It is designed for cam over or at least that is how I use mine. I use it in a RockChucker and not in my Co-Ax. A light coat of a good lube is helpful as some cases can be fat bottomed.

I also mentioned I have used it as a pass through die that sizes the case rim too. I'm used to this as I will size my cast and powder coated bullets using many different sized Lee bullet sizing dies. Not suggesting you try it this was but I'm familiar enough with the technique that I do. Again, don't try this with OneShot unless you just want to see what will happen (I already know).
