Seperate glue in action/stock

I have a nice benchrest rifle setup for short range...I want to pull the glue in action and replace the light stock with a long rangestock..How do I go about this

Patti, I've seen some threads on separating glued-in stocks and actions. I believe that NesikaChad on Long Range Hunting has done this fairly often.
I've been told that you can put the rifle in your freezer overnight and then (with cotton work gloves on) take it out, hold the stock upside down over a padded bench or---? and tap the bottom of the barrel in front of the forend with a rubber mallet and it'll pop loose. I've never done it, but it's worth a try! The gloves will keep the sub-zero metal from sticking to your hands.

Good luck, Tom

Place an old style clothes iron on the scope bases (remove the scope) place the iron on highest heat setting...allow about 20-30 minutes for the heat to soak into the bedding...make sure the iron does'nt shut off...you should be able to tap the action with a dead blow hammer and it will release easily...when enough heat has broken down the bedding...works like a charm...since my wife uses an iron we bought 30 years ago... ;D

.

What? You have a wife that actually uses an iron? I stole my wifes iron years ago for this purpose and I don't think she's ever missed it. ;)--Mike Ezell
