Glue In - The Benefits?

What grit garnet do you consider fine? I just bought a bag of what they called 80 grit. I was expecting it to be coarser than it is.
I use what happens to be in our blast cabinet. I will look at one of the bags today and see the grit #.

So if you were in need of removing the action, what method is used?
I put the gun in a cleaning cradle like a Tipton....trigger removed. Then, with a standard clothes iron on High, set it across the scope bases and let the heat start to soak in. Depending on the epoxy used, it will release in 10- 15 minutes or so. A tapered wood shim between the barrel channel and barrel will keep some upward pressure on the barrel...tap it in a little bit now and again.

It seems a little weird the first time you do it. Be patient and let the heat do the work. Don't pound on the stock or use the barrel like a jack handle trying to pry it out. A gentle tap or two on the top of the butt with a rubber hammer doesn't hurt, though.

Just how I do it. -Al

On the subject of the barrelled action releasing when the heat get to a certain point....be careful.

This is a Panda glue in I took apart. By my digital temp gun, it was right at 285 degrees.

I let the action get against my leg when I was setting it down. If you look close, you can see 'Stolle-Panda' and the serial number.

Branding yourself with your rifle action is next level fanboy!

I’m impressed!

I agree.

Al you should see if Kelbly’s will sponsor you. They should! My son went to University of Arizona and their was a frat bar there that would give you free Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) draft beer for for life if you let them brand youo_O. Thank god he didn’t care for PBR!
