SEB, Bags and Sand

Hello,
Im having a 6 dasher built with a St-1000 stock. I just received a SEB Max rest. What type of sand should I put in the SEB Max? and what type of rear bag and other bags should I get and what type of sand do you suggest?
Thanks

Regular sand in the front bag and ears of the rear bag. Heavy sand in the base of the rear bag,

Down Under quite a number of us use "Abrasive Blasting Grit" or most often referred to as "Sand Blasting Grit" purchased from an automotive store or used for free from a sand blasting works. Very heavy, dosn't pack, easy to fill bags.

I use a Farley Front Rest and SEB Bigfoot rear bag generally or a Protektor when I need a lower bag at some rages, all filled with grit.

That's the tip of the week right there. That can be found at most farm & home stores that sell sand blasters for less than $10 for 50 lb bag. That ought to last awhile.

I tried it a long time ago and it is not near as heavy in weight as heavy sand. It is a lot closer in weight to play sand only black…….. jim

I use heavy sand for my Edgewood Mini Gator and use Copper slag for my SEB Bigfoot. The bigfoot is so much bigger that I don't want to have to use a forklift at the range to move it around. :) The copper slag is perfect for it's size.

Tractor supply sales garnet sand in the blasting material section of the store. I found this sand to be slightly heavier than the Sinclair sand and it sales for around $20 for a 50lb drum.

Maybe what you tried was not the same compound, might be different in the USA but "Abrasive Blasting Grit" here is "Ilmenite" or "Titanium Iron Oxide" and is over twice the weight of "Play Sand". Some people actually call this product "Heavy Sand" . Australia was one of the worlds biggest produces of Ilmenite ore.

My SEB Bigfoot weighs 9.926 kg or 21.88 lbs and it doesn't move when shooting from a bench.
