Seating gone crazy hard

RUSTY, WE HAVE FOUND THAT THE OXIDIZED COATING LEFT BEHIND AFTER ANNALING IS VERY STICKY STUFF & WILL INCREAE YOUR SEATING PRESSURE! I WENT BACK THROUGH MY RECORDS & HAVE FOUND THAT I HAD BETTER SCORES BEFORE I STARTED ANNEALING! NOW, ANNEALING AFTER EVERY FIRING MAKES SENSE, TO KEEP NECK TENSION CONSISTANT, WE JUST HAVE TO FIND A CONSISTANT WAY TO OVERCOME THE STICKY RESIDUE TO ACHIEVE A CONSISTANT SEATING PRESSURE, HAVE A GREAT DAY

Tumble Brass
Anneal then remove any residue from annealing process by spinning brush attached to 0000 wirewool in case necks and cleaning outside neck area then size trim and chamfer brass dipping case necks in Dry Lube before adding powder and seating bullets.

I got the bright idea to clean the inside of my necks with 0000 steel wool one time!…. It was so shiny you could read a newspaper in the reflection!… I loaded up 100 for each gun , light heavy and 11lb and headed for Deepcreek in Missoula Montana, I loaded them long so do a little testing at the match!.. about 2 weeks had passed since I had loaded them first match I got my range box out set up my K&M and it was all I could do to move them and when they did move it was a loud pop!…cold welded themselves!…… shot horrible!…up all night in a motel room pulling bullets dumping powder putting graphite in the neck and reloading them for Sunday’s match……lesson learned!…..

I’ve seen this and heard this loud pop several times. That is a clear sign something isn’t right. Same thing will happen if you clean the inside of the necks each reloading and you happen to remove too much carbon. Each piece of brass goes over my stiff nylon brush on my case prep rotating station, once quickly down and then pull off. Simple quick and ever since, we have never got the loud pops when seating. Problem solved. Some people like to clean the inside of the neck with a bronze brush but we tried this and found we would get about 1 in every 15 that would make the loud popping noise.

I anneal every firing and then pass the brass over a rotating stiff nylon brush to knock the residue off that you are referring to

100% my same findings and methods, I use my prep center and I always use the same amount of stokes it might be once or as many as three , whatever my force seat restoration Guager tells me it likes and then keep it consistent with the nylon brush.

The texture of the carbon in fired brass necks seems to be different after running thru my AMP, so I use a nylon brush to remove what seems to be gritty carbon.

Then apply Imperial Dry with a Q-tip and set neck with mandrel. Works fine!
