Seating die designs

I have opened Wilson stems to bore diameter, rounded the edge and polished but they always wanted to stick a little. Not bad, but it's just not the pull out with the fingers thing. They just wedge themselves since there is little taper there.

Yep. From the stand point of precision or accuracy gains, that's a long way to go to fix a non-existant problem.

If you have concluded through whatever testing means you have applied to your specific situation that this is a subject that's not worth pursuit then that's fine for you and your situation.

What is the reason to do this also. It's not about runout?

My objective is to seat the bullet untlizing bottom 30% of the bullet simply because that is where I personally have found bullets to be the most consistent across the lot #s and manufacturers.
I presume this discussion to be about jacketed bullets with an aerodynamic nose.
There are bullets with specific uses that ignore this.

Now, if someone has concluded that seating depth consistency is not important, then the whole point is moot to their situation.

I'm in the learning phase. Eliminate one variable at a time. Otherwise, you're just creating chaos and inviting the unpredictable.

I've read many things. Many have not worked for me. So I test things for myself. Then I know what works for me.

No. Run out will involve another test should I decide it might be creating problems.
I'd like to think that if I get this right, run-out won't be an induced issue. Time will tell.
First I intend to get consistent seating depths.

So what cartridge, sizing dies, & press are you using???

Ive seen a fellow seat a bullet w/ a Wilson seater by hand force only & run it on a concentricity wheel w/ zero run out….

Over the weekend I pulled out a Redding bushing neck die and a Redding Comp bushing neck die to revisit this. After about 10 minutes re-pondering designs I realized why I shelved it way back. Way too much work for little gain

I never said I had run out problems. I said I was interested in consistent seating depths. The run-out issue was brought up by others.
