Scope Tester, How to use?

Have a Field & Cave Picatinny scope tester with a frozen 36X40 Leupold target scope mounted directly over the action. Have three other scopes I would like to test on the outboard side but I'm a little confused as to just how to use it. I haven't shot the Dasher with the frozen scope, so have no idea where the bullets will hit and is that even important? If anyone has one of these and has a procedure they use that works well for them I certainly would appreciate you sharing or helping me understand how it's done. I'm sure once I do it a time or two, the answer will become apparent. Thanks in advance for any guidance. C. Loebsack20210510_161028[609].jpg

Sight the rifle with the scope above the barrel, Install the other scope in the outboard rings and sight it to the exact same spot as the other scope. Shoot the gun and see if every time you shoot it both scopes stay on target. If the outboard scope starts going other places than the one above the barrel then it is bad.

Quick question ebb, the scope above the action is frozen, so the shots cant be adjusted to be close to center, they will go, where they go. Does that matter since it's only about the reticle?

No just make them the same. When I used a friends to check mine after a few shots they were not the same. I sent pictures to the scope maker and there was no argument.

Chuck- I made my own graph paper with 0.10" sq. grid to keep track of reticle placement/movement.. On an LCS scope the movement was very slight ~ 1/10", but repeated firing the movement kept stringing away to 3/8' total. I checked 3 high mag target scopes. Two of them when used together held reticle position, so I knew I had a benchmark.
