Starting point to use a scope at 600 yards

I have always used irons and will continue to as long as I can but at 65, I know that day is coming when a scope might be better at times. Like many I have a budget, however. I currently have an inexpensive Tru-Glow that I use to test loads at 100 but I don't believe it's eye relief and build quality is good enough for shooting matches. What can I expect for a scope under say $225? Any guidance is appreciated and if that price is un realistic, please advise.
Thanks, John

Yes on Weaver T 36 with 1/8 dot....Later if you think you need more the screw in booster, I think Pro Shot, can be bought cheap and add up to 40% more power...You can see little blurs in the white at 600 but not holes...nothing in the color.....

go with the weaver t-36 you'll love it. I have three....2 finehairs and one 1/16 dot. I don't want the dot too big or it will cover the target.
my eyes are 62 yrs old.
