Scope mounts for a .22 LR firearm.

If this is a US marked 513t, then I would not have the receiver drilled and tapped. You will ruin the value of it. There maybe be 4 holes that are drilled and tapped on the barrel for dovetail mounts. There are plenty of Lyman, Unertl and Redfield scopes that utilize the dovetail mounts

If you choose to use rings for a rifle with a grooved receiver, I would suggest BKL rings. They are made in the U.S. They are nicely CNC machined and anodized aluminum rings. I have never had them mark a scope. They will fit both 3/8" and 11mm grooved receivers.

PS: I have bought mine recently at Killough Shooting Sports when I buy some reasonably priced Eley ammo.
I'v never seen a rifle built in 1940 that had a grooved receiver.

I would not drill and tap the receiver, they bring a good price unmolested.
I follow GunBroker and GI regularly and rarely see a 513T sell for over $600. There may be one or two collectors in the world, and the only way they would buy mine would be if I offered it for $250 or $300, which I'm certainly not going to do. And, I'm not going to spend big bucks for an more recently made and supposedly accurate .22 rifle.
I'm also not really into bolt guns because I'm a "lefty". The only reason I bought mine was that for something built in 1940 it's incredibly clean.
I subsequently found out that they are very accurate and will be my first experience with peep sights. I haven't made up my mind to get it drilled and tapped yet. I'm just gathering thoughts about shooting it over 100 yards. I already own 3 great scopes that I could use.

No holes on mine for dovetail mounts~! I'd probably mount my B&L 6-24 on it.

Another shout out for the Burris rings. I love the idea of the inserts protecting the scope and the added ability to make adjustments with the different size inserts.

I am a talley fan

Sweet rifle!

A real nice one will bring a lot more than 300.00, junk ones on GB are 400+. I collect US trainers and target 22 rimfire firearms, so it kills me to see a nice example with holes drilled and tapped in it or buggered up to the point they are worthless. If it was all junked out, then I would not hesitate to butcher it up. Mine is accurate but not 100 yard accurate, there a far better choices for that. I do shoot mine and the grandkids shoot it alot, they get in arguments over who has the best groups with the "Army Gun". Lol. Eley Team ammo does very well at 50 yards but the triggers on the military models need work.

I have a 513s as well and have looked far and wide for a 513tx but they are scarce.

Would refinishing the stock be considered molestation~?? Just curious~!
I do not think you know what you have, it is a Remington military trainer from 1940 that has not been altered, it has survived 85 years. If the condition is as you say then sell it and buy a 10/22 or a Tikka T1X left hand model.

I do know "EXACTLY" what I have, when and why it was built, how many were made, and and what other manufacturers made siblings. And not to be snarky but because it's mine I can alter it in any way that suits me. I already have a 10/22 which is of no particular interest to me. I'd take an original Win 63 except for the fact that I already have one or a 63 built for WRA by Miroku and one by Taurus which is fun and pretty accurate. I also love 1885 Winchesters, but I already have 4 of them including one very early one built as a .25 RF which I converted to .38 Spl. So another rifle is something I don't need.
The US PROPERTY 513T to me is just a curio and it was priced very right when I bought it. The day I bought it I wasn't looking to buy another gun, but just couldn't pass it up. I'm interested in older things that were purposefully built and not just to some manufacturer's pockets. Since I've already refinished the stock, which turned out beautifully, the "purist/ collector value" is gone so it now exists solely for my pleasure.
If it has serious collector value it would be worth far, far more than it is.

Is the action drilled for mounts?
No, not yet drilled and tapped. Comments I've received talk about collector value being destroyed, but although there are probably a few collectors who insist on total originality, I don't think total originality translates to "value" because I see totally original examples being sold now and again, they never seem to bring what I consider to be serious money. And when I see an older 52 or Anschutz for sale the asking price is always considerably higher.
Anyway, I've also already destroyed it for the purist because I refinished the stock, which by-the-way now looks great. As bought it was in fantastic mechanical condition and the bore looks as if had never had a round through it. The stock was also quite nice and absent of dings and gouges but was faded looking like barn siding that had been left exposed to the sun for 80 years.

You mean Weaver brand or Weaver spec? Two different things. A weaver and picatinny base look almost identical. Post a pic of what you are talking about.

I wouldn’t put quick removable aka QD rings on anything. I put a scope on and it stays on. Also one more thing to wear and loosen. A properly torqued set of rings would be my recommendation.
I setup my CZ 452 so I can shoot either iron sights or scope by using a picatinney and Warne QD rings. Makes for a lot of fun/flexibility at the range as well as a backup if I have scope issues while hunting squirrels.

I wish you success in finding a 513tx.
I may have killed the collector value of mine, but considering the mecanical condition, the pristine bore, and accuracy of mine it will satisfy "ALL" the needs of this left handed shooter who prefers single shot 1885s, lever guns, and slide actions.
