Scope Level bubble splits???

I have a Vortex 30mm Scope level and after shooting the bubble splits in half and I either have to rotate the rifle to get the bubble all the way to one side so it will become one bubble again or either wait just a bit and hope it comes together again. Its aggravating in a string of fire when you want to run and gun but want to quickly double check your level...

Anybody know of a level that mounts to the scope tube that does not do this? Or have I got a lemon?

The one Vortex I bought did the same thing to me. I have Sinclair's that stay together but the last one I bought looked like a cheap knockoff of the older ones I have and the bubble splits on it when it's cold anyway. Night force ring caps stay together. Flatline Ops are expensive but I haven't seen one of them split. There are other good ones but these are the only ones I have personal experience with.

I'm not sure which level you are referring to. They market 2 of them I believe. I've got a pair of the newer style and they don't split the bubble, but they are on a 6.5 Creedmoor and a 6.5×47L respectively, so recoil is not an issue.

I'm usually looking for something that works well for less money, with so-so results, and tried the Vortex Lo Pro level. It works as advertised but I find the bubble slow, for a lack of a better description. My favored level is the Holland. No split bubbles or any other issues and it looks good too. The bubble is fast to level out and is larger (the bubble) which makes it easy to see.

The only scopes I own that don't have a level mounted are the one's not on rifles. I really believe in using them helps keep the horizontal dispersion down. To each his own.

I'm going to call Vortex and see what they can do about it. Its on a 260 Remington that weighs about 14 lbs so I feel like it should withstand the recoil.

I agree completely DHD...

My Vortex level does the same thing; it's a piece of junk. I only bought it because it was the only 34mm I could find at the time, but I have since swapped it out for a level from Tubb.

That link up there to the Accuracy 1st is the one i would recommend from personal use. Very low profile and rugged and no bubble to split on you...;)

It's all about the fluid viscosity in the vial and the size of the air bubble. Also look at the Holland Signature series. They work great on small and medium calibers up to 338 but on my 50s, I use the US Optics. Never had an issue.

I've got three of the Sinclair offset levels. They are mounted on a .223 a 260Rem and a 308 Win. I've never had a bubble split.

Oops.....forgot! I have one on a 30-06 too. No problems!
