Scope for shooting Distance

What distance do you plan on shooting. I use a 4,5x27 power all the way to 200 yards. I would try a head shot out to 100 if the wind was right. For say 50 yards a 3x9 will work.

I am thinking not over 200 yds probably average shot of 125-150. Are you shooting a Vortex ?? FFP ??

I use a 3-18x Razor II on my match rifle and take shots to over 300 yards. If you wanted more power then the 4.5-27x would work or the PST Gen II 5-25x with 7C reticle would be good too as it has the small dot in the center for a precise shot that you mentioned.

I am using an Athon BTR SFP. Its cheap but I have had no trouble with it on my 22. I have dialed it all over the place from 50 to 200 yards. It has allways been dead on

I have had no experience with the Athon brand. But will look into pricing. Don’t want to put much money into this for now but may expand in the future.

The one I have is the only one I have ever owned. I like it but I don't think I would use it on a gun with heavy recoil. That is just my thought

Head shots on a squirrel with a .22 at 200 yds.? You don't need a scope, you need a magic wand.

Not saying I can headshoot a squirrel at 200 yds but I have shot many in the head at 100 with the cheap scope I have on the 22 now. With a new scope only time will tell. One thing I can assure you of though. I have plenty I can aim at one at 200 weather I hit them In the head or not !!!

Trouble that I have with shooting the .22lr at any longer distance is knowing the distance (not estimating). Once you reach 200 yds that thing is dropping like a glide bomb.

I like the vxII 4x12x40ao fir squirrel hunting but thats on a cz 452 17hmr. I like the little vx1 2x7x28 on the 22lr.I would think for head shot on a tree rat at 200yards would take a very good and higher power optic.A target the size of a fifty cent piece in tree at 200 would look very small to me but I’m old lol....

You may want to check out the Vortex Strike Eagle 4x24. Euro Optic is closing them out at a good price. I’ve bought two and have recommended them to friends.

All I can tell you is it is working fine a my 22. I have not tried it on any other rifle. Its clear and tracks good. Paralax is a little touchy
