Scope advice please

I mainly shoot 200-600 yards I do not compete, but would want to leave that option open for the future. I shoot a 6mm BR off a front rest and rear bag.
I basically compete with myself. Always trying to get a 5-shot ragged hole. I’m looking at three maybe four scopes.

Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60x
Sightron 10-50x
Leupold Competition (I believe 45x)
Nightforce Benchrest 42x

my budget is $1500

all suggestions and opinions are welcomed.
Thanks for looking!

The GE is a fine scope. It starts to get darker above 50x
The Sightron SIII is slightly brighter, probably from the 60mm
letting in more light.
You will want to improve your scope in the future, so
contact @lancexxx here. He is a Sightron dealer and get the SVSSED 10-50x60
for a few hundred more. Spend a little more now and get what you want or
spend twice as much and end up with the same results down the road.

I know I'm in the minority on this but that just seems like a lot of power to shoot 600 yards. Highest power I own is 6-24X56 and they are usually turned down to 18-20 power. Granted I'm in Kansas and the mirage here is horrible in the summer so can't use that kind of magnification anyway. A fixed 40 power scope would be useless here in the summer. The eye box on high power scopes can be limiting, FOV is limited, early and late shooting can be a challenge as well.

More directly to the question at hand, a NF 5-22X56 is on one of my F-class rifles and is more than enough for 600-1000 yd. In a Vortex I'd look at FFP Viper PST Gen. II 5-25X50, save you some bucks and great scope.

The OP states he mainly shoots 200-600 and might compete in the future.
He lives in Oregon.
So if down the road he has a chance to shoot at 1000+ he will be hooked
and look for a better or more magnification scope.
If he cries once and purchases a scope that will fulfill all his current and
possibly future needs, he'll be ahead of the game.
How many here have only purchased one scope and was satisfied with it.
NONE.
We all own many scopes and have upgraded them.
Just trying to help out and save you money down the road.

I have two of the Sightron10-50’s and I’ve been very satisfied and would recommend it to you. I’ve looked through one of the ED models and the optics really pop for lack of a better term. Is it worth the extra weight and cost is the question I’m pondering right now myself.

Currently...I use a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15....and find it does everything I need...however...since I like nice things....on my list is to replace that scope with a ZCO 4-20....I love my ZCO 5-27...but would like an ultra short to hunt with....but yea...I know..that is outside your price range....but just barely...it has no peers though.

I'll add one to your list: Burris XTR II 8-40x50 F-Class. List price is well under your budget and I bought 2 at $800 each (one new Black Friday deal and one used). I have 2 and they work very well for me, and compare well with my Leupold VariX-3 6.5-20x50 LRTs.

I shoot from 200-600 also. I have a Vortex GE on a 243 Win and like it really well. As many have said it gets a bit dark above 50x, but I never shoot it above 42x. I also have a Sightron SIII 8-32x56 on a 6.5 CM, which I also really like. Between the two, the Sightron is by far the best value. The glass is every bit as good as the GE and very close to my NF NXS. I would assume the Sightron 10-50x60 would be really good also.

Ill take my Sightron 10-50 over my NF Comp most of the time, as my eyes prefer looking through
the Sightron...most of the time...there are exceptions in heavy mirrage the f-stop on my NF seems
to work a little better...( Just my eyes and yours will let you know what works for you )

Pretty hard to beat the GE at the price point I have bought 3, no problems and hold up ok and very repeatable. If you spend a bit out of budget, I invested in a 10x50x60ED Sightron, optics are super.

The Trijicon Accu Powers are very hard to beat in the price
range. I do have the Burris XTR II 8-40x50 F-class on one of
my testing rifles. Glass is better then expected and especially
at night under LED lighting !! LOL Jeff knows about that !!
I shoot mainly Bushnell at distance plate match's. XRS 4.5-30
gets the nod there. I do have a Golden Eagle coming in for the
short score matches, and a NF Comp for the VBR steel (850-
1000 yards)
