Varmint/Benchrest scope

Little above my budget currently unless I could find one used for a decent deal.
I’m thinking about a nf br possibly. Had my gun with a vortex ge out early this morning (was overcast), and as someone else pointed out it seemed dark. I will give it another chance tomorrow.
I buy all of my scopes used off of this or the LR hunting site. I paid 1500ish for a couple and up to 1750 for others.

I could sell tomorrow for what I have into them. GOOD scopes hold their value!!

For varmint, I found that you need to stay around 8X or lower to find the varmint in the scope, after you have found him with binoculars. A NF Comp at 15X does not have the field of view needed to find that varmint. I have been using The NF NXS 8-32, and it is perfect. I bought a NXS 12-42, took it on one hunt, then traded it for another NXS 8-32. The 12-42X didn't have the field of view I needed for varmints.
Jerry, I am so glad you did. I love that 12 X 42 NSX with the NP-2DD. Thanks again. Russ

What are some good recommendations for a varmint/Benchrest scope? Adjustable power, side focus preferred. Up until a year ago I thought leupold was the way to go but after getting a NightForce comp and vortex golden eagle as well as using a sightron I’m not so sure. Would like to keep budget under 1500 if possible.
I would just suggest keeping your eyes open here for a Sightron SIII 8-32x56 (mm OL?). If you are shooting under a mile 32X is enough, closer if 8X is too much, that mirage is telling you to go home and mow the yard...

They are good scopes, I have one or two. The one I have has a premier reticle, I just wish it had target turrets.
I have a 6.5 x20 I bought in the Cabela's Bargain Bin about 20 years ago.

Had Premier boost it to 35x and add Mark lV turrets.

It's my favorite PDn scope @ 15-20x, well right up there with my 12x42 NXS, and good for BR load development @ 35x.

I suspect that Cheryl Ackerman @ Optical Services can install target turrets on your 6.5x20, and boost it if desired.
