Savage Triggers

I have two savage target actions I would like to swap triggers . Is there any good after market triggers that work well on a savage action. I'm looking for pull weight of 2 to 4 ozs. The trigger on these actions are ok but I would like a lighter pull weight.

There is not a trigger that I know of made for the Savage's that will go down to 2-4 oz. I do not own an aftermarket trigger for Savage's, but have shot SSS's triggers and Rifle Basix, I like the RB better. Just my .02.

Well, don't know about down to two oz's but I'm very pleased the Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger I have on my 6BR F12. Set at around 8 oz I think.

I own both 2 SSS and 3 Rifle Basix triggers. I definitely like the Rifle Basix better and will buy them again.

Not may options, but i have a RB with the lightest spring installed, very happy with it

The best option for something like that is probably the SSS evolution trigger. This trigger has to be installed by SSS and the action timed to it. Check out there website.

I have the SSS evo trigger in a savage lrpv 6mmbr set at 4oz...you have to have your action timed and tried as part of the trigger install..both the time and true and trigger are worth the money and wait time. The trigger Is creep free ..the action bolt lift and operation is much smoother than the stock action.very pleased with SSS on this work.

The design of the Savage trigger is against you. There is a lot of weight that is behind the pivot point of the finger lever. You are having to lift this weight every time you pull the trigger. Basically gravity is increasing the trigger pull.

4- Rifle Basix 2 triggers here all down to 4.5oz. Installed myself in 15mins.
Would like to see 2oz.not getting there.
But they are far and away better than the factory target accutrigger

Just have your PTA Accutrigger modified. It can be. A great trigger. I recommend the following:
1. Have .035" milled off the back top of the trigger where the weight adjustment spring screws in.

2. When you get your trigger weight adjusted insert a set screw to lock it into position.

This modification should be done in a mill with a carbide end mill as the triggers are hardened. This modification gives one the true adjustment available with the Accutrigger with a minimal expense.
This gives one a more than satisfactory trigger with the safety functions of the Accutrigger.

Jeff you know what a RB 2 feels like. Mine was set at what 11 oz and it feels lighter because it is clean and no creep/over travel.

I have worked on my own Savage triggers. I don't know what the actual pull weight is because the rifles are firing when the blade gets fully depressed. I guess I need to lighten the spring on the blade.
