SAVAGE Trigger

And they were likely orders of magnitude more expensive too. Many don't have the deep pockets to afford a custom competition rifle, I sure don't.
Yes Sir, I was just referring to short range benchrest with those super light stocks; didn’t know if anyone put a savage action in them.

Spent a lot of bench hours testing triggers, but always go back to
the trigger that is shipped from Savage on the PTA's.......Including
in order from best to worst in my personal work has been.....

Savage precision target trigger as comes on the PTA's
Timney, #2
Jard, (2 of them) dead last.
Then there was everything in between such as Elfman and SAV-2's

I hear a rumor about B&A coming out with a trigger for the PRS
guy's and not really a BR trigger. Good for them. But the bottom
line is still the workings of the Savage action itself. You can't get
around that. Jewel, some time back, made a trigger as a prototype.
The work involved special machining of the action to get it to work.
Arnold figured it out but dropped it. I believe someone on this site
still has one of the actions and triggers that has been sought after.
When I first looked at it a few years back, it was done on pre accu-
trigger actions with bottom release. Right now, I believe the closest
to this work that is still available is what Shilen has to offer. As for
me ?? Yeah that red blade will always be visible.

That's funny you mention the factory PTA trigger. As mentioned earlier, I will be trying that one alongside the Jard. I was talking to Fred, and he swears by the Accu-Trigger. Just last week I made a major decision and to have him do two builds using the Model 12 action. That's another story though!

Does anyone know if the newer factory accu triggers will work on an older model 110 ? I saved the old safety but junked the old trigger.

A problem I had with the Rifle Basics Savage II, I could get it set perfectly when out of the stock, but when installed in the stock and the action screws torqued, it would trip at the slightest bump. It took a long time to realize the hole in the top of the trigger guard was only slightly larger than the Trigger body. When the barreled action was installed into the stock, the trigger body was wedging against the trigger guard. After I opened up the hole in the top of the trigger guard to provide plenty of clearance, the problem went away. I am now shooting 2 RB Sav II’s set at 4 ounces. For a Savage, that’s not bad competition performance at a fair price.

You still have to put in the time to get the trigger adjusted right.

4 oz is great for any trigger on a Savage. Thinking the new B&A trigger may cost more than the complete rifle!

SharpShooters have been my best non factory savage triggers but for the older actions. It's their comp trigger and I use it for hunting. Don't like the thin trigger but it's a very good trigger for consistent break and zero creep. Wish I still had one. Sold them with action I parted with. Live and learn I guess.

Take that back, I do still have one in a 6.5-284 savage action rifle I built. Sits at 1.25lbs. Great Triggers. Sold a Savage action built 260 Rem with the SSS comp trigger. Should have replaced it with a spare Rifle Basix trigger I have.
