Savage F Class Stock Splitting

Update:

1) I emailed the photo to Savage and requested they open a "service request," so I have a # and will call them on Monday to see what they say.

2) I shot in our monthly club 600 yard match this morning, with a score of 179-1x...came in 7th out of 24 in custom class....not bad for me.

3) I'm going over to see my gunsmith next Tuesday, and plan to take the rifle with me, and have him look it over, and discuss.

Thanks for all the feedback.

George

I would check out Sharp Shooters Supply for a stock. They offer a nice looking stock at a very attractive price. The last year I have had very good response from SSS and I have two of their stocks. And, they speak Savage!
The last stock I bought from them was available but wasn't the exact color I wanted. I accepted the stock and was bedding my action within a week! So, be a little flexible with your color demand.

Norm: what a timely post....

I was doing email with Lisa at SSS most of yesterday, and by the end of the day we were on the phone, completing the financial details of our transaction: the purchase of a new low-profile bench rest stock for my Savage!

Delightful and responsive people to do business with.

I should have the new stock in a couple of weeks.

George,
I'm a little late to the party, but I had a crack on a Savage F Class in the same place recently. The only difference was mine was brand new and I noticed the crack on my first outing.

I was pretty angry at first, but called Savage and had a replacement stock within a week. So if you haven't spoken with them yet it's worth a shot.

Dallas251: thanks for the feedback....

A big difference here is the fact that the rifle is 4-5 years old, and over time the stock shows some use, though I've not abused it.

Also, it's my only "precision" BR gun, and I use it in matches on the 1st and 3rd of every month. Being without it for any period of time with the "back and forth" that an old warranty claim would involve, isn't acceptable.

George

I stand corrected. Just for reference, here's a picture of what my crack looked like.

Dallas: actually you were correct....my photo didn't reflect the upper part nearer the tang....mine seems to have started in that area also...

I hope you have good luck getting your on time, they've been known to be really slow getting orders out.

Hopefully she told you it was coming from their new stock supplier. If she didn't you won't see that stock for awhile. The place making their old stocks burned down. Know guys going on 2 years waiting for a stock.

This is one they have in stock that fits my needs...needs to be inletted. Not the greatest colors, but that's not a biggee for me. I'll take a pic and post it when it shows up.

Lisa at Sharp Shooters Supply had promised that she'd call on 2/29 with shipping/tracking information on the stock I purchased and paid for from them. It was an "in stock" item that need to be inletted, and would ship on or about the beginning of last week.

I was hunting in NM most of the week, and didn't hear from them. I called yesterday and got a recorded message saying they aren't accepting phone calls at this time.....suggested email or snail mail. I sent an email yesterday, and we'll see what happens.

In looking into them at BBB, I see they have an F rating, and not much good to say about them. There seem to be some satisfied customers who like Fred and Lisa & their company. Time will tell.

Ive heard soooo many stories like this- thats why the guy above wanted you to let us know how it was in a couple weeks. What i cant figure out is how they know when a new customer is calling so they can answer but not answer one thats paid

If they use a cell phone as a landline they can block any number they want. You can get cell phones that have Land Line looking numbers.

It may have been loose one time and was slapping the recoil lug hard enough to fracture the wrist. One other note, how tight do you tighten the bedding screws?

Still no answer from Sharp Shooters Supply....and they're still not accepting phone calls. I posted a negative vendor feedback message on the Savage forum, for what that's worth.
