Savage Anschutz 141M

Seems one followed me home today. All the years and money spent on firearms I've never owned a 22 magnum of any sorts. This one is nice with the exception the previous owner has shortened the barrel so it will never be a "collector" rifle. I'm not sure if it would have been any way. Stock and blueing is good with a few small light spots. Came with a Bushnell Scopechief VI scope. All in all, seems like a nice little rifle. Short, light and hopefully accurate.

Any of you have one or one similar? Pro's/con's??

I have owned three 164's, all were chambered in 22 LR, but never a magnum, they all performed well. As you say they are light and handy.

Pros - It's an Anschutz so it will likely shoot well unless there is some barrel damage.
Cons - There is no match grade 22 magnum available so you are limited in that respect.

I actually bought a box of ammo at Bass Pro today for the rifle and it says "Target" on the box. Doubt its match grade but maybe a tad better than others. I also got a box of HP's. Maybe it will like one of them.

I have one I picked up this winter that was a bit rough looking at first. It cleaned up well and is very accurate and not ammo fussy. You will enjoy it. Mine shoots Federal Blue Box Bulk into a small hole at 25 yards. Trigger on mine is at 20 oz, very crisp. 200.00 and a few hours work, well spent. I will be interested in how your mag shoots.

I shot mine today. I didn't shoot a lot but what I did was impressed. It acts like its going to shoot pretty good.

Are you asking the caliber or the rifle?

The rifle:
I have a Savage Anschutz 141 in 22 LR. In the family since new. Very accurate, probably even way more than I have seen (always used less than ideal ammo through it). Just love it.

The cartridge:
Only owned 1 22 magnum, it was a Marlin 57M. It had the short throw lever. Took it to a local rifle range for deer season sight in day for non-members. Sighted it in, and the person assisting had me shoot again at 100 yards a few times. He had a funny look on his face. All the shots were in the 1 inch center of the bullseye. He was disbelieving. I killed many squirrels at the same distance with head shots.

Was asking about the rifle. I did get to shoot it and it looks like its going to be a good shooting rifle.

I personally have always like the looks of the Savage Anschutz stocks better than the Anschutz stocks. I have had both the 141M and the 141, both great shooters. My favorite ammo for the 141M was Aguila SilverTip. It shot absolutely great.

I've hit about everywhere locally to find ammo. Its around but just not a lot of choices. Mostly CCI but did find some Hornady 30 grain V-Max Saturday. I have a few box's coming from Midway Monday or Tuesday. Of course I didn't order the Aguila. Most local store are charging way more than online stores. I'll just keep looking and get ammo here and there when I find it. I hate to buy quantity until I find what it likes best. Then I'll stock up...if its still available.

I had a Savage / Anschutz years ago. It shot great. Of course I sold it, a knucklehead move... :)
I have 3 other 22 WMR's, They all like Remington 33g .22 WMR ammo. enjoy yours!
