Savage 112V J Series Varminter

You just don't see those things anymore. The short Savage action is closer in length to the Rem. long action than it is to the Rem. short action. And that Savage is closer to the Rem. long action, perfect for .257/6mm Rem cartridges. I had one years ago and foolishly sold it, should have kept that one. Those old 22-250 barrels shoot well. Mine was new in the early - mid 90's and put on the early Savage short action. It's very nicely accurate. I'd buy that one, you can always rebarrel if it's used up.

I have one in a 222, one in a 220 Swift with a Douglas Barrel, one currently apart going to a 221 Fireball, and one in a 20 Vartarg with a PacNor barrel. Buy it you won't be sorry if you're into a little nostalgia with your rifles. As previous poster stated, you can always screw a new barrel on if this one is shot out.

You will love the 221 Fireball, and one in a 20 Vartarg with a PacNor barrel.

I just picked it up.
Awesome! What did ya fit it for if you don’t mind me asking?

Remember, if you’re interested in the trigger wire and adjustment directions for the trigger feel free to PM me your address and I will get it right out to ya. No charge. It won’t make it feel like a RifleBasix but will be improved.

Congrats on the purchase.

I have one that has a Hart LV 223 barrel on it, shoots great but just a few too many rigs in 223. Did a barrel swap for a 17 Remington. It was a take off and known fouler, but low round count. Some get PO’d, but I got it to make some 20’s scream at 4000+. Good days and no wind it works the dogs over pretty bad, point and splat. When it’s toast it’s toast. Arrows are threaded for a reason. I can now go about 20-25 rounds before a good cleaning is needed.

You may already know, you'll have to single feed.
Shorter rounds like the .221 Fireball and the 20 VT won't feed from a mag.
They pop off the bolt head before they get to the action loading port.
I tried numerous times with the .221 Fireball and finally gave up and went single feed.. All my rigs are now single feed. (except my gas guns) :D
Go single feed with the ejector rod and spring removed and the fired case will stay on the bolt head till you pick it off. No chasing brass ever!!

Probably won't get to shoot it for a couple weeks. But I think I found some new Lapua brass for it! I have a nice gloss 6.5-20x Leupold I've been saving, might mount it up this evening and see how it feels

Yes mine are all single shot actions and for my Vartarg I have been shooting it for some time. As you suggested I removed the spring and ejector rod and simply pluck the spent case off the bolt head. Easy peasy!
