Savage 110 ultralite proof barrel

From what I just read anything performed by savage, so if they only screw on barrel and set headspace then proof research will be the one

since the barrel came on the gun and Savage did screw it on and set headspace, I’d think if it’s a new gun and can be sent back for warranty that Savage would be responsible for making it right. Even if that means replacing the proof barrel, just like they would if it was a Savage barrel.
I mean if it is a proof problem then Savage should have to deal with proof since they were originally sold the barrel to use for your gun. I would definitely call them first.

Interested to know how they handle it. Please be sure to post your findings.

Btw, what is wrong with the proof barrel?

I can tell you for sure that Savage replaced the proof barrel on my Savage ultralight when I sent it in. I was pleasantly surprised that they replaced it.....but it still less accurate then both my Savage Axis

I was told the same thing. I called at the 6 week mark and was supposed to get a return call that never came. The gun showed up about a week later with a new barrel. (That still kinda sucks)

Well there was a screw up with shipping, the girl at post office in local small town put my address down instead of return address,so it’s coming back to me,I was able to shoot factory Hornady 120 grain ammo,I wonder if I should just buy some 120 grain bullets and reload them or I can take it a hour away and get the throat done there but I don’t know what he will charge?
problem is short throat 140 grain ammo is too long

You do not send your Mahle pistons out of a GM engine to Mahle for warranty work you take the car or truck to GM. AC/Delco does not warranty the battery in your new GM car or truck either GM does and under warranty they will almost never replace it with another AC Delco battery it will be what ever brand the dealership get's cheapest.

So of course if you have any issue with your SAVAGE rifle you need to call Savage and get permission to send it back to them. You did not purchase the rifle from Proof and you did not purchase the barrel from Proof Savage did.

You would only contact Proof if you personally purchased a barrel from Proof then took said Savage to a gunsmith and had said Proof Retail Purchased barrel installed by gunsmith.

When OEM's purchase parts from other manufactures they almost never purchase a "warranty" with them and they accept all risk and liability for deep discount on price per-item. The supplier will usually meet some quality control matrix set by the purchasing agent of the other company.

This is also an indication of how PRICE does not Equal Precision or Quality! You clearly indicated that your 2 Savage Axis rifles shoot more accurately even though they are inferior designs, cheaper and running vastly cheaper Savage mass produced barrels! Your thread is basically proof that 99% of passes for truth and common sense on this sight and sights like Snipers Hide are less than true! Clearly you did not get what you paid for with the expensive rifle with the expensive custom barrels wrapped in carbon fiber or you got way more than you should have with your 2 Savage Axis rifles!

There is so much material potential in this thread one could write a book that is both marketing theory and practice and a book on manufacturing principals and engineering!
