I have a feeling that a lot of the guys that were actually doing most of the work of keeping it going the last years have passed on, or don't have the ability to do the work any longer, so, based on that and the recent information from the site owner, I expect, sadly, that Saubier.com is essentially gone.K9TXS, thanks for posting that.
I'm sure I'm not alone and sincerely hope someone steps up to the plate. What a grand site it was, I truly miss it big-time.
Whatever happened to Alex Clark?K9TXS, thanks for posting that.

I wish someone could take the website over and fix it. Today, I realized that you could Google search the site and find things, but the information could not be accessed. If someone could take over the site, do nothing more than fix that and secure the information already there, that would be an asset. While I don't possess the skills to resurrect the website, is there anyone here that does and can resurrect the website for the small caliber shooters, it would be a huge loss to lose all the information on Saubier.
By the replies received it seems to be the technical skills required more so than the financial contributions.
Anyone???

I have an IT background but have been retired for many years now. I'd be glad to help if I can. Sauber's is/was one of my daily check-in's. There are numerous Forum software packages available so I'm sure there are transfer tools available to migrate the site & data. As to day-to-day managing & running the site, that's a different issue.I wish someone could take the website over and fix it. Can you connect with the owner and see if you can get some kind of arrangement with him? The day to day running, if you mean, managing the goings on of the site and postings, that could be, and was done by the moderators. Alex Clark and someone else used to do that, but some years ago, Alex was already in his 80s. Someone would have to be willing to be a moderator once fixed, if you could fix it and get it back up.I have an IT background but have been retired for many years now. I'd be glad to help if I can. Knowing nothing about how something like this operates, I will show my ignorance… would it be possible to make the site “static” with few demands on administration? It would be far better than nothing if it could be available to read the information that is already there while not allowing updates and posts.I have an IT background but have been retired for many years now. I think that this is a viable solution, if possible. The information should first be saved. If searchable, most of the info. could help others. Most postings are not new and unique issues.Knowing nothing about how something like this operates, I will show my ignorance… would it be possible to make the site “static” with few demands on administration? Just wondering…
I agree, fully functional would be the ultimate/best goal, but as the song says "you can't always get what you want", and sometimes "you get what you need". Saving the information/getting it searchable and viewable could be one step to fully functional. While it would be fantastic to save the information on Saubier the ideal would be to have the site functioning again so that the information is added to over time.
If anyone has any questions about the info on the site then the questions would be where the information is not somewhere else.
But what happens depends on what can be arranged.
