MY father has a Sako 75,308) in a factory lminated stock. He is wondering what if anything he can do to improve the bedding of the action. There is currently no pillars or glass. Should something be done?
thanks

Would folks agree that the current setup is not the best situation and that accuracy would most likely be improved with a new bedding job? Has anyone else had experience with this model/issue? As is the gun shoots very well better than .5MOA usually. He is looking to improve consistancy and is wondering if tampering with the bedding would help. If he saw that others had tried it with good results on the same gun he would probably atempt it. Also, what would the major advantages be if one did decide to add the pillars and glass.
thanks

The biggest advantage is it will not move around in the stock and can be removed and replaced with out changing point of aim... glass the complete lug area except the front of the lug, and the bottom of it for the best chance of not moving or twisting under recoil. Some folks advocate taping the sides but why bother to bed it if it's only done halfway.... Be sure that the recoil lug is square and will not bind up, and you'll have no problems...
