Sako optilok ring/base height ??

I have a really nice A1 6PPC that I want to mount a gloss Leupold 24x AO scope on and would like to use the Optilok mounts. From what I see online the medium blued rings are hard to find and I don’t want to go up to the highs. I read somewhere that the lows with the Optilok base were more like mediums but don’t see any measurements listed.

Anybody know for sure if that scope will work on this rifle with the Optilok low mounts??

I have 2 piece weaver bases I could use with other rings but would like to make this look nice as possible. It will rarely be shot

Do not use new Optilock mounts on a classic Sako A1. For some reason the tapered dovetail specs are wrong and you’ll end up aimed four feet to the left at 100y.

I was really only successful using Leupold style rings on Redfield SDT bases for the Sako tapered short action.

There are probably other solutions but I assure you that new Sako Optilocks are not it.

If you don’t believe me pay shipping and I’ll send you a box of Optilocks that collect dust on my shelf. No point giving Beretta more money for their incompetence.

The rifle now has a matte Leupold 40x LCS in a set of Leupold rings that mount directly to the action and its zeroed pretty close to the center of adjustments. I was really hoping to mount this gloss 24x Leupold in the Optilok mounts.

Had the same windage problem with the Opti rings for windage on my Sako A1 6mm PPC USA. Wasn't quite sure how they worked so I got some advice from the Sako Forum site. Worked great after this.

Hi Murray,
The tapered tops on the receiver are tapered on one side, straight on the other, allowing you to rough set the scope's windage by moving the clamps fwd, or back to align the crosshairs to the target. I hope you can understand my comment.
