Sako bolt sleeve?

I have a friend with a with a custom Sako 6PPC (A1 action) that appears to have a sleeve that rotates with the bolt lugs. Apparently the sleeve tightens the bolt nose alignment. Anybody know or heard of this gunsmithing trick?

Thank You my Friend Butch. I've attach the pic a d Hopefully it's clear enough.
Respectfully

I tried to post a picture of it but apparently format was too large. Thanks for posting Manny.

Looks like a safety sleeve in that it closes off the bolt raceway's when it rotates with the bolt so extractors and such cannot escape out the raceway's in the event of a pressure mishap. I've seen devices like that referenced and I even pondered making one for a Rem clone with a Sako extractor. I recall years ago someone describing doing just that. I suspect it was made more for safety than for bolt nose alignment. Similar in concept to the Savage baffle.

Very interesting. Nevers seen that before. A L461 has a "bolt guide" on the port side that would block gas as standard.

Looks like it's had a barrel swap so someone has done some upgrades :-)

Yep it has custom barrel.

I'm not sure I understand what is being said or what the pictures are showing me but it makes me think of sleeving the front and rear of a 700 bolt to put it in perfect alignment with the chamber and eliminate any movement of the bolt when the bolt is closed.

What is being shown isn’t the typical Rem 700 bolt sleeving. It is an insert that fits between the end of the action raceways and the back of the barrel tenon in the space that the nose and lugs of the bolt occupy when the bolt is in battery. It’s circular with an OD just under the ID of the front of the action and an ID just over the bolt nose diameter with grooves in it the same as the action raceways. The nose and lugs of the bolt slide into the sleeve at the forward end of travel. The sleeve rotates with the nose and lugs as the bolt rotates into battery effectively blocking off the action raceways.
