I have a friend with a with a custom Sako 6PPC (A1 action) that appears to have a sleeve that rotates with the bolt lugs. Apparently the sleeve tightens the bolt nose alignment. Anybody know or heard of this gunsmithing trick?
Yep it has custom barrel.Very interesting. Nevers seen that before. A L461 has a "bolt guide" on the port side that would block gas as standard.
Looks like it's had a barrel swap so someone has done some upgrades![]()
What is being shown isn’t the typical Rem 700 bolt sleeving. It is an insert that fits between the end of the action raceways and the back of the barrel tenon in the space that the nose and lugs of the bolt occupy when the bolt is in battery. It’s circular with an OD just under the ID of the front of the action and an ID just over the bolt nose diameter with grooves in it the same as the action raceways. The nose and lugs of the bolt slide into the sleeve at the forward end of travel. The sleeve rotates with the nose and lugs as the bolt rotates into battery effectively blocking off the action raceways.but it makes me think of sleeving the front and rear of a 700 bolt to put it in perfect alignment
