Safe to use CLR for cleaning a nickel boron bcg?

Is it safe to use CLR for cleaning a nickel boron bcg? I have a number of BC's that are made of nickel boron and was wondering if the chemicals in CLR will harm any of the parts in it. IE - Firing pin, bolt, gas key etc.

With the boron coating, the fouling should easily wipe off with just about any cleaner.

I don't know, but I can tell you it is harsh enough to remove bluing. I clean the BCG on my ARs with Bore Tech Carbon Remover, it is completely safe and it works great

I have used Bore Tech Carbon Remover as well as MPro 7 and a few other brands of carbon remover, but I still have to take a knife to scrape the carbon that has built up on the bolt on the shoulder by the gas ring. (It would be nice if I could have just dropped the parts into a container with something to dissolve the crud etc.)

Looking at the directions on my CLR container, the only metals it says not to use on are brass, copper or aluminum. It also says to rinse off after 2 minutes when using full strength. So, I'd say it would probably be safe to use on your BCG as long as you rinse it off with 2 minutes. I think at worse it might etch the surface of the metl very slightly. Your call of course. If you try it, let us know.

Careful with the sharp objects. Do not use them on the 'tail' of the bolt.
The difference between a brand new, in spec bolt tail and an out of spec bolt tail is a few 10 thousandths. The bolt tail is used to form a pressure seal.
