Ultra Sonic Cleaning for Nickel Plated Brass

Ladies and Gents,

I have run across countless posts warning re loaders not to use the same recipes on their Nickel plated brass as they would use on their normal brass. I have also found just as many posts saying that it is fine; or that it is fine but turns the cases black. I have also done some recon on this forum looking for the answer, but have not found a solid yes or no conclusion.

I hope that I am not reviving a dead topic or missed anything that has already been discussed countless times, but here I am to ask it anyway.

1.) Is it safe to use the Ultra Sonic cleaner on Nickel plated Brass?
2.) If so, are the same recipes used for brass safe to use on Nickel plated Brass?
3.) If so, or if not, are there any personal recipes that someone would like to share for cleaning Nickel plated Brass?

I am fairly new to using my Ultra Sonic Cleaner, so any recipes with measurements for my brass is also welcome and much appreciated.

Thank you all for taking the time to read and happy hunting :D

Well since no one has answered you, I will give it a try. My answer would be NO it is not good to clean nickel brass in an ultrasonic cleaner. I have done it and it seems to strip the nickel. I use an L&R ultra sonic. I have used their cleaner, Hornady brass cleaner, and home mixes and they will all discolor or strip the nickel.

I guess you just have to tumble them or wash them. The Ultra in the ultrasonic is going to hurt the nickel.
