Safe Location Question

One tip when moving a safe on level ground - instead of pvc pipe to roll it on, use golf balls. It allows the safe to spin easily to go around corners, angle into its final location, etc.

If you use a gun safe to protect from burglars then you need to have a commercial grade safe and not a $2000 box store one that can be opened with prybars and power tools in 10 minutes.
The biggest threat is from fire so put it in a room with nothing on top or best bolted into the garage concrete floor if not under the house. If you have a safe in a basement, or with a second floor above, and have a house fire then your safe can wind up encased in a bed of coals. No 'fire proof' safe can withstand that heat.
My last gun safe was just 30x30x 60 in and cost $7500 in 2012. The most common and affordable commerical safes are American Security BF ( burglary &fire) and run about $6000. Anything less is just a fire safe, but only if installed in the correct location.
You can find used commercial safes for half cost of new. Where you live, and value of your contents, determines what safe you should own.
Moving safes is typically done using 4-5ft wood 2x2's with a strip of UHMW screwed on one side. This is high density polyethelene that is very hard, slick as snot and spreads the weight per in2 to not damage the flooring . You just lay the strips out like a train track and can push a 1000lb safe with one hand and maneuver it with suction cup grabbers.

ps I know safes cause a good friend was the world champion 'safe cracker' !

If you put a safe in the basement and the fire is significant all the crap that's burnt will fall into the basement and bake the safe, not to mention all the water being used to contain said fire. Look up safes that have been through this and most times the guns are a complete loss.
