Rough Action

OK. Last Nov. I purchased a REM 700 SPS. I used the action for my new .20 Practical. Shoots like a dream, however, the action is a smooth as a cat's tongue!! Cycling the action reveals a very rough sounding noise as I cycle the bolt. Is there anything I can do/try to smooth things out? Please, no suggestions to throw it away. I already thought about that! LOL.

Yes, this is easy......total cost about 12 bucks.
Go online and get a small container of Anschutz Ceramic/Keramic
which is a liquid ceramic treatment that impregnates into the metal pores.
You wipe in on bolt, inside action, let it sit, wipe it off, leaves no residue/buildup and will slick it up big time.
We've started using it on our BR guns, especially in winter league and the wow factor is impressive.
I believe I got mine from Eric Uptagrafft's wepsite.

Looked for this on-line. ELITE Shooting Sports has it but I have never heard nor dealt with them. Anyone say they are OK?

Oops I stand corrected. I did source it there, however, and everything was quick/efficient.

I should add that Eric Uptagrafft is a great guy also. I've done business with both guys and have nothing but good to say about both.

I think I found some at Champion's Choice Shooter's Supply "Anschutz Ceramic Coating 100 ml. bottle. They are in Utica NY. Close to VA. so I'll try and get some there. Should be here in 2-3 days. Tried Elite Shooting Sports but, wasn't able to find the product. Shouldn't be a surprise my computer skills are a little on the 'grandpa' side!!

Polish the bolt body and the outside of the lugs where they ride on the inside of the receiver will help. We found out with the Springfield '03 that bluing the bolt was not conducive to a smooth action. A rough beadblasted finish on both the bolt and receiver sure doesn't help. You can also polish the ways where the bolt slides in and out of the receiver. Brownells used to sell a special tool to hold wet/dry sanding paper to do this. You can also do this with some fine abrasive -- just be sure to keep it off the back of the lugs so headspace won't be increased.

Anschutz Keramik Coat 100ml Liquid
AHG.000564 1 $12.00 USD $12.00 USD

I emailed Elite shooters and they got back to me this morning and said to call back and to request USPS and I did and they said that you only have the one option for shipping on their web site and that they could ship USPS if you call them. I wanted to make sure I corrected their shipping policy. I ordered the ceramic coating and I will post how well it performs on several SPS actions. I have had some nitraded and it really slicks the bolt function! RW
