rimfire scope

Probably been asked 1000 times, but I dont see much under search. For 100 yard rimfire shooting, what scope are some of you using? I have a 3-9 rimfire bushnell that is ok, but certainly not top of the line.

Plus 1 on the T-36 Weaver! I purchased several of them from Dan Killough at Killough Shooting Sports where to this day they can be had for the best price around. http://www.killoughshootingsports.com/index.php/scopes/weaver-t-36-scopes-217.html

I use mine for both conventional smallbore prone shooting at 50 yards, 50 meters and 100 yards and mini palma at 100 yards. I also have a T-24 that I use on my prone centerfire rifles from 300 to 1000 yards.

Leupold 35X Competition or even a 45X would work for best clarity without spending a mint IF you shoot competition.

To shoot at 100 with a 22lr get a t-36. No need for a variable power you'll never see mirage problems. If you are trying to shoot 1" groups you need to hold under 1/2, you can't hold that small if you can't see that small.

If I can shoot sub 1/2" groups with a .308 and a 3X9, at 100 yds. why do I need a 36X to do it with a .22 lr ? That being said, I love the Weaver V-16 for all my Varmint guns

I never said I could shoot 1/2 inch groups with a 3x9, maybe you can, but after doing all my load work and competition shooting thousands of rounds with my 308s using NF 12-42 or an 8-32 I can see a huge difference in what I can hold with a 32 or 42 power target scope and a 10 or 12 power hunting scope. Granted I don't remember the last time I shot at 100 yards. I've got one of my 1000 yard rifles setup that won't zero under 300 yards. When I finish building my 40X22lr and get it in a PR&T stock it will wear a NF 8-32 with the same reticle I shoot at 1000.

If you don't like the 36 then get a T-24, but in any case you'll be better off and get more for you money with a fixed target scope than any variable. Hey it's free advice.

I'm going to low ball this thread.

I shoot my T/C with a 6 to 40 Tasco. it works at 50 feet and right out there to 200 yd.

It's not my Sightron iii or my 3 t36s but it works fine.

However the glass isn't great above 36 power but what do you expect.

For target shooting - in good light - I use a fine crosshair with an 1/8 minute dot.

For "everyday" shooting a 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 minute dot would be better....IMO... as they are much easier/faster to see and pick up where you have a varied background (brush, dirt or leaves etc....)

Just another opinion.... ;D

You guys with the T-36s, what's the preferred reticle, fine cross hairs or with dot?

Thanks fellas,

I have 4 - T36's on various rifles larger caliber rifles with both reticles. However, I have a Leupold 35X Competition Fine Crosshair Scope on my Anschutz Rimfire scope. Because I shoot primarily an ARA Benchrest course, I much prefer the Fine Crosshair Reticle as the Small Dot Reticle (no matter the size of the dot) is a hindrance FOR ME in seeing the small targets used in this discipline of competition. Bottom line, it's a personal preference thing and really depends on the shooter. Therefore, I STRONGLY recommend you try and find someone who has both and ask if you can shoot their rifle so you can see FIRST HAND what is being seen. Personally, I'd get rid of my Dot Reticles in a heartbeat but can't justify buying a new Fine Crosshair T36 just because of the reticles on the larger caliber rifles that use larger targets. I'd rather spend the bucks on a new build or some other upgrade. Just my thoughts.
