Jim,

Do you have any close-up photos of the block and how it attaches to the stock? How have you torqued the screws? It looks interesting and I'm curious. Thanks.

This is an 1885 Winchester made in 1919 that I customized for prairie dog shooting. It has a Shillen octagon barrel in 22 Mag. Gunsmith - Mark Stratton, Engraver - DArrel B. Nelson, exhibition walnut wood - Ballard Rifle and Cartridge Company

The block simply attaches to stock by two 1/4-20 screws. Screw heads are counter-sunk so that they don't protrude below the forearm. Block is about to be pillar bedded to the forearm.

Jim

PS - Haven't come up with any torque values yet for the block, it's just "snug". When I get to ammo testing I will see if different torques make any difference. My feeling is that it will not make any appreciable difference. I might be wrong on that though.... :)

Just got My dads Winchster 52D back, having a friend refinish the stock on it. Its an intresting heirloom. My father purchased a 52D barreled action with some other shooting budies through there small rifle club in the 70's. He then purchased a peice of Black Walnut blank and carved out a close copy of the 52 International stock by looking at a fellow club members rifle. Two full NorthDakota Winters went into cutting, sanding, drilling and fitting this hand crafted stock to fit the action. Over the years the old finish had deteriated and needed new life. It recieved a new Anshutz rail, new butplate assy. to replace the old hook and new semi gloss finish.
The rifle was made in 1964. Im sure my belated father would aprove at its new life. Its ready for another 35 years of service.

My son is a rabid University of Florida fan and for his birthday 5 years ago, I made this "Gator Gun" from a Ruger 10/22 target rifle. The stock has 9 coats of automotive acrylic paint and the alligator mascot is hand painted.

Wow...no Chargers. Guess I will have to post

Ruger Charger with the Volquartzen 14" carbon barrel. Trigger group also from them. and a sharp claw extractor are the only mods. The barrel made all the difference in the world on group sizes...It can print .4" 10 shot groups at 50yrds. I do 10 shot groups since it is a bit harder and that's a magazine full with the factory mag.

This is my Ruger MK III in the Volquartzen 'Sting Ray' version. It is equipped with a 6" fluted barrel with muzzle brake, laminated target grips, and an Ultra-Dot scope. The pistol has some additonal trigger work done plus an extended magazine release. I am not a competition shooter, but WOW,,, this things shoots like a dream. It shoots the Lapua Midas + bullets like it was clamped in a vice.

I mounted this NF 2.5-10x32mm compact just for bench work to find it's favorite load/s. Once I'm done then a VX3 1.5-5x20mm will go into S&K or Conetrol mounts.

My Remington mod 37. It was one of Mike Walker's"Mr.Remington" favorite rifles. Was featured in the Aug. edition 1994 of Precision Shooting.
