Rimfire- Accuracy

Thats not correct. ARA 100 ring is 0.50 inches at 50 yeards which is equivalent to 1 MOA

To refresh the math, 1 MOA is ‘approx’ 1 inch at 100 yards, 1 MOA is 1/2 inch at 50 yards
But for scoring the bullet hole cannot break the line, so worst edge reduces it to approx 0.5 moa.

Maybe this will help you understand Sir,

My accuracy expectation.......1/2 MOA is approximately 1/4" at 50 yrds. and this would be for 25 shots also. Center to Center of course.

My game.......ARA Unlimited which is shot at 50 yds.

All five shot groups shot in NRA FSBR match. Regulation target for FSBR is the A-50/51. The x ring is 5mm, 10 ring is 10.4mm!

50 yard F Class .55 inch forty shot group, best was a .500 59 shot group.

These are scanned and digitized composite groups.
? Forty shot group in FSBR? Smallbore F Class is shot 5 rds/bull X 4 bulls equaling 200 possible points per stage. 3 50 yds stages and 3 100yds stages make up a typical FSBR ( CMP and NRA shoot the same format

@Redd

By way of explanation. I live in a small northern village in Canada and am entirely self taught and in five years have never seen anybody else target shoot with a 22 in any serious way. One day somebody who saw a picture of my set up in a forum post said I was shooting F Class ... news to me. I went looking on the internet and found the American Smallbore Shooting Association. Their rules, records, and results are all posted and as I understand it they shoot 5rds/bull X8 bulls equaling 400 possible points. I scan and digitize to create the 40 shot composite group.

I shoot NRL22

At 50 yards the ammo I use for matches will shoot in the .2s or better with 10 shots.

My current lot aggregate at 100 yards with 10 10 shot groups was under an inch and at 200 yards it was sub MOA.

I don’t expect this, however the gun/ammo is capable of it.

Past 200 yards Rimfire accuracy becomes difficult to have specific “expectations” in terms of accuracy as so many factors are playing into the end result.

I just posted yesterdays checking one of my guns on Rimfire Central. This is about what this guns does consistently with good ammo.

Dug out Old Reliable (40X) to check zero for a possible upcoming match. Put away dirty. I'm not big on cleaning unlesd accuracy falls off.

Always can depend on it and really likes Lapua SLR. I'm not a lot tester, for my use and hard to get we've found at this level it all shoots good.

Zero was still perfect at 50 yards. Shot a couple at varying farther distances and went to 197 yards. 5 quick shots not really making sure everything was bench perfect and it shows she still has it. Have done better but this is usual for this gun.

This includes cold bore shot which is usually a bit fast. Good ammo that has performed well out thru 500 yards for us. I'll try took back and see what those 5 shots chronoed.

Ready for summer.

Hope you have a lot of that ammo.

Depends on what ara class you are shooting. 1/2 inch for unlimited class.
0.500” OD is correct for the diameter of the ARA 100-ring. That means you need a 0.276” CTC grp to keep all 25 shots inside the 100-ring using worst edge scoring and not best edge scoring.

As an example, here’s the most recent ARA 2500 I've shot in a registered Outdoor ARA match (Last summer in Kansas).

Because I compete in benchrest for score I don't have a real focus on group size as such. I have fired a few really impressive groups, but on average , with my target rifles and in tune with the rifle's preferred ammunition at 50 yards a 0.250" and 0.500 at 100. My Factory Class Rifles at 50 yards again close to 0.250" and under 1.000". Shooting outdoors the wind has a lot to say in how close I come to those goals. I also sometimes just for fun will take one of my less expensive factory rifles and lower quality ammunition and see just how good I can shoot. I compete against some really great shooters and occasionally win but mostly finish in the middle of the pack.

That may be, but yer killing me because you probably see Santa every day and I only get to see him once a year! LOL

Landy
Sadly, that stopped when I quit drinking.

And I wasn't going to mention this because there is an ongoing investigation up here but Santa disappeared from radar for an hour this past Christmas Eve when he was traversing Nebraska. I knew the likely suspect and supplied authorities with satellite images of a very suspiciously configured farm machine shed.
Nuff said.
