My method doesn't involve a cordless drill.

It does involve JB Bore Paste.

Plug the bore and fill the barrel with common household white vinegar and just let it sit. It will remove the rust, might take several days but eventually it will dissolve it and not damage the steel. Vinegar will also remove bluing so be careful if that matters.

If that's the Hornady 160, & it sure do look like the Hornady 160, it's a 2 diameter bullet. It's about .260" diameter in front of the cannelure & .264" behind. PPU does make some .268" bullets. Graf's used to stock them.

Pretty cool. It still has the chrysanthemum on the top of the receiver. It was the US policy to grind it off of captured weapons. Grandpa got this one home through unofficial channels.

Poke a bore scope in the barrel. That's what matters.

Check it for Cosmoline first. One never knows.
