Rifle with excess headspace

Plug the bore and fill the barrel with common household white vinegar and just let it sit. It will remove the rust, might take several days but eventually it will dissolve it and not damage the steel. Vinegar will also remove bluing so be careful if that matters.

Pretty cool. It still has the chrysanthemum on the top of the receiver. It was the US policy to grind it off of captured weapons. Grandpa got this one home through unofficial channels.
That's all well and good.

Is it a historical piece, or a functional rifle?

That's the question the OP must answer.

You posted on an open forum.

Yeah, you did.
Wrong again Buckwheat. I neither replied to you in post #30 nor asked for a response. I was commenting on the bearing surface of the bullet 243 posted about.

Hard to believe, I know, that I didn't have your permission to post, but it was not addressed to you. Maybe stay in your own lane from now on. Maybe put me on ignore. I almost put you on ignore a few years ago, but the entertainment is fun sometimes. Take a lude, or a Midol, or stop drinking so much coffee. Not many people give a ratsass what you jabber on incessantly about.
