Retumbo in the 6SLR

Any of you guys using Retumbo in the 6SLR with either 105s or 115 DTACs??? What are you using for a load and what are you getting for accuracy?? Velocity any better?? Thanks!!!

I have tried retumbo and it did give me a better velocity, but it did hurt my es/sd a little.
I'll take a look at my load data for you.

Here is what I have. Use with caution and work up.

Win brass
Fed 210 match primers
105 grn Berger hunting

46.0 (2772 fps) to 49.0c (2936 fps) estimate

Real world data.
47.7grns retumbo
Average 3013fps
Es 34.51
Sd 13.60
To much spread for my liking.

47.9grns retumbo
Av 3042 fps
Es 29.86
Sd 14.62
Still to much spread.

I went up to 49.9grns with an average of 3159fps, horrible es/sd.

I just was curious when I tried retumbo. I may revisit it again if I find time. I'm really tempted to try RL33 just for grins.

Thanks xdeno, I tried some yesterday with my 107MKs and 115DTACs and was not impressed. I did not chronograph them but the accuracy was just so,so. IMR 7828 seemed to shoot the best and showed some promise for further testing. Not sure on the speed of it either but the accuracy was on par with my H1000 with the 107s. Have not shot the 115s with it yet.

Yeah i wasnt particularily impressed with my results. Now if i could have gotten single digit es/sd, with the velocity gain it might have been a different story. Ive talked to others about retumbo in this round and they to have been dissapointed.

I'll second all the nice things about the 6 Super! Been shooting one at midrange for f-class for several years now mostly with 107smk's and last 2 years with 115dtac's. Haven't used Retumbo but H1000 and the 115's @ 2940', H4831sc@2995' and 107's w/ H4350@ 3120' always shot HM scores with single digit ES's. Loaded up some 115's w/ 7828ssc but its been too windy to test. too many options that shoot very well except I could never get the 105 Hyb. too shoot as well:( good luck and I'll post those 7828ssc results when I test them. I tried Retumbo as well. Really got some good speed out of it. Over 3200fps. Like both of you, nothing really stood out as far as groups. One thing I noticed is that it showed a tiny hint of delayed ignition. I wonder if a more robust primer may be needed to get it to kick off and perform better? Also tried 7828 again with a lot of velocity. It was tried head to head with H1000 0n the same day and boy H1000 really shined so I went that direction with further testing.
As it stands H4831SC and H1000 have been my best two powders to date.

Russ,

I have been doing some testing with my 243 SLR , 115 DTACS and H1000. Chrono numbers have been good (am shooting at 3050 fps) with low ES and SD numbers.

One thing though, H1000 has a higher per kernel wt. and makes consistent charge wts. a bit harder to obtain. At .04 (approx.) grs per kernel, low variation charges takes a bit longer to measure and weight.

Other than that, it really fills the case up. Will shoot some tomorrow (600 yds) with iron sights and see what the target shows me.
