Quick 6slr question

Ok I know this has been beat to death and a lot of things have an effect on it. I currently have 1361 rounds on my 6slr barrel shooting retumbo and rl26. I use it in tactical type matches and a few prone matches. I have been trying to lay off shooting it to make the barrel last the summer. What is your guys take on the barrel lasting the summer (~1000rds). Shot 105 rdf's and now am shooting dtacs

I'm on my second SLR barrel and shoot 600-1000 yard high power. On my first barrel (Krieger 7.5"), I shot nothing but 115 DTACs with H4831SC and had over 2000 rounds thru it before I rebarreled. The throat looked horrible, but it still shot great. Not sure if I was just lucky with that first barrel, but my thoughts are that rifles are meant to be shot.

Kyle, in the same boat with you, 1600 rounds with H1000, I have 120 loaded rounds and then to dtacs for me, I am working up that load now. I did check speeds last week and still running the same with same low sd so apparently the Benchmark is still hanging in there. I have my new stick waiting. a buddy just took off his 6 creed as it was dropping speed at about the same round count as I have.
I'll be interested to hear your result.

I shot one 6SLR barrel "out". I took it off at 2200. But that was to do with the brass batch dying out and the decision to move on from the cartridge. It was shooting fine when I scrapped it. The barrel looked very rough by 2200 though.

My latest barrel has 300 rounds down the pipe and the throat moved 0.0027" and the barrel still looks like the day it was spun up.
Ill be a monkeys uncle if I don't get more than 2000 rounds out off it but ill probably set it back around 1800 rounds or so and aim for another 1000. I shoot 105s @ 3130fps with N160 so not sure how RL26 handles a throat, my last barrel just didn't want to die (well over 2000 shots) but I rebarreld just before the season started to be safe.

Shooting H-1000 and N-165 mostly. Brux tight bore barrels except for #2, these are HAMMERS!

1st barrel was with N-165, won X-Miss match in Florida with it at 2,900 rounds. Barrel was still shooting good but I had a new one spun on before I went to Phoenix that year. I looked at the throat at 2,200 rounds and it looked pretty bad, thought I'd just keep shooting it until it quit, finally just bit the bullet and changed. No throat left when I pulled it but it was still hammering.

2nd barrel, turned into a tomato stake, not saying the maker but pretty sure it was the barrel metal, about 600 rounds. Shot N-160 with this barrel, have been hesitant to try it again.

On my 3rd barrel now, 1,600 rounds with H-1000, throat is a little burnt but not looking that bad yet. I should consider having it set back now though that I think about it.

Could you see anything with a scope down to barrel or didn't you bother looking?

The throat was gone for about 1" before you could see any rifling. The barrel, it was a button-rifled barrel, won as a door prize at a match. I wasn't out a lot except for the gunsmith fitting it to my rifle.

My gunsmith tried to set it back for 1 of his rifles, thought it should still be good (and he should know) but after about 100 rounds, he gave up on it. He had good luck with that manufacturer's .308 barrels he had won as door prizes so he was puzzled too.
