Anybody Shooting a 6SLR or 6CM in a Gas Gun?

I want to build a 6SLR or 6CM on my Mega Upper/Lower. I know that the 6SLR has a reamer for seating the longer bullets in the mag? Does the 6CM have a reamer for this setup? Any experiences with either in a gas gun?

I have been really tempted to put a 6CM barrel in my OBR.

To run 6CM in SR-25 mags is going to need a different throat for sure. You might want to move the gas port fwd a inch or two and run an adjustable gas block.

In my 260 barrel I throated it short and only use 123s. The 142s are seated so deep they take up a lot of powder space.

Thank you for responding. I sure would use an adjustable gas block so I could get it to cycle smoothly. I was hoping that the lr-308 mags would accommodate the 115, but I would be very happy to get the 105 hybrid or 108's to fit the mag and not have to jump them too far. I don't care though as long as they shoot. I am thinking the longer neck of the 6SLR would help with finding a seat depth that would shoot and fit the mag?

We've done some 6mm SLR's in gas guns (AR-10's and LR 308's) and customers have been positive with the feedback. I would be wary of an adjustable gas block - there's no adjustable valve that can put up with being "sand blasted" with high pressure gas laced with particulate matter and stay fully functional without issues over the long haul - we stay away from them. You know how it goes, things always fail at the worst possible time and in order for the adjustable gas block to work you also have to over port the barrel to begin with (i.e. all the valve can do is throttle back gas, it can't add gas).

If you do the 6CM and you are thinking of using H1000 powder, just remember that's a real slow powder and your port pressure will be real high compared to other powders (like H4831SC or H4350, N160, etc.). It's hard because depending on the set up, if you port the rifle for H1000 powder, it may not cycle with loads with H4350.

Either the 6mm SLR reamer designs that are the 6mm SLR/S or the 6mm LR/SS will work - check out the bullet OAL info where the bullets hit the lands on the web page here:

Good luck!

Wow. Thank you for that expert input Robert. That is money and trouble saving advise. I have been to your website a number of times and am always amazed at what you have put together and have on offer. I knew that H1000 was probably out of the mix, but sure have hopes in H4831 and H4350.

I shot AR's in 243 and 260. H4350 would be my choice, H4831 was way too slow in my guns.

In a gas gun I would go 6SLR and run H4350.
