I picked up a new Savage LRPV in 22-250 Friday and began load testing Friday afternoon with one 5 round group and continued thru the weekend. Sunday afternoon was a bit uncooperative as the wind didn't lay down till about 5:00pm.
The short story is this is one fine rifle. Other than the way it shoots it's best feature is the trigger. It's an absoulete delight, a very sudden breaking 8oz. as it came out of the box. My load development resulted in this final load and the target is attached. It will not shoot this group every time but disregarding a fouling shot, wind or a very fouled barrel it won't get greater than .300 with this load. This is as much as could be expected from a well built custom 22-250 of any kind. The rifle weighs 12 lbs. and with scope 14lbs. I wouldn't want to tromp around all day with it, but for my purpose it's just fine.
I am an old rifleman but a brand new Savage fan.
Nosler Custom brass, necks turned to just cleanup) FL sized

34.5 Grains Varget,Lyman manual shows Max @36g)

The 5 shot group measures .180" and a scan of the target is attached.
