HELP!!!
I have a 6.5 Creedmoor Varmint factory barrel I have tried to remove today. I have a bench mounted barrel vise with aluminum jaws that have 4 ea 1/2-13 studs for plenty on clamping pressure. I have a action wrench that is rear entry machined to fit the entire length of action That has a 3/4 hex on the end. I scribed a mark on the barrel and action underneath to see if barrel was moving. I tried a dead blow hammer to “ shock” the action loose. Nothing. I then tried a ball peen hammer. Nothing. I then sprayed penetrating oil as best I could around barrel threads, waited a couple of hours, hammer time again. Nothing. I then got a 1/2” drive long handle spocket and 3/4 drive socket with a 24“ long pipe. Nothing. Then got the MAP gas torch out to gently heat the reciever around the threads. I nserted the action wrench and finally it moved......... no, not really. I just twisted the action wrench !!!!!! I have some experience with removing barrels and installing barrels but no, I’m not a gunsmith and I surely have never had a stubborn barrel. Any guidance and advice would do me a world of good.
Thanks
