removing moly??

If I bought a box of moly coated bullets, would it be possible to remove the moly and if so how would you go about it??? Thanks all

Shoot them. You might like them. Thats all I shoot anymore. It cut down on the copper fouling in my rifle. I can shoot longer with out cleaning.
Martin

Martin is on to something there....all kidding aside, i tumbled them in corn cob media treated with mcguires car cleaner wax. worked like a charm, but dirtied the media real fast, i am glad its cheap from tractor supply co.
cheers,
doc

Yup I used the corn cob media as well. I had already used it to polish 10,000 pieces of brass and have used it to polish probably 50,000 since then. I had Moly free bullets when it was done.

Snake,
it is over where the "hamster bedding" is...about $3 as i recall for a 5 or 8lb bag? it is ALOT. i add mcguires car cleaner wax from wally world. brass comes out clean, shiny, and a little slippery.
cheers,
doc

Dennis: I used GM Top Engine Cleaner. Left them to soak for about 10 minutes in a shallow pan, then tumbled for a few minutes in an old throw-away bath towell. Took all the moly off, with just a very slight dull finish on the bullet jackets.

I have been shooting moly for years and going to try hbn.It really slows the copper problem and have never had any problem getting it out of the barrel.Supposedly the hbn is better and will give it a try.If I had moly coated bullets I would just shoot them, however if you must remove it,corn cob will take it down to almost gone or carb cleaner will take it off and evaporate.Do it outside as the fumes will probably make the walls melt.LOL
